The Lagelu local government chairperson, Mrs. Taiwo Abibat Mudashiru has marked the dawn of 2025 with a heartwarming celebration of the first newborns of the year.

The Chairperson, known for her community-driven initiatives, honored two newborns—one given birth to at Monatan Health Centre and the other at Lalupon Health Centre—with a generous presentation of cash gifts, essential baby supplies, and mother care packages.

The joyous occasion highlighted the Chairperson’s commitment to supporting families and promoting maternal health within the local government. Mrs. Taiwo Abibat Mudashiru personally visited both health centres to welcome the newborns into the world and congratulate the mothers for their safe deliveries.

In a symbolic gesture of blessing and goodwill, she named both babies “Murewa,” a Yoruba name meaning “Bring Forth Goodness,” reflecting the hopeful and prosperous future the new year promises.

At the Monatan Health Centre, the first baby of the year was joyfully received into a warm environment as Mrs. Mudashiru presented the mother with baby essentials, including diapers, clothing, and feeding supplies.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Taiwo Abibat Mudashiru expressed her joy in sharing this special moment with the families and reaffirmed her dedication to enhancing healthcare services, particularly in maternal and infant care across Lagelu Local Government.

She noted that the New Year’s celebration was not just about welcoming 2025 but also about showing love and support to new mothers, helping them embark on their motherhood journey with dignity and hope.

“This is a significant moment for us all,” Mrs. Mudashiru stated. “The birth of a child symbolizes new beginnings, and it is my privilege to stand here today to honor these precious newborns and their mothers.

We are committed to ensuring that our healthcare facilities continue to serve the people with excellence, and these gestures are just one way we show our love for the community.”

The families of the newborns expressed profound gratitude for the honor and generosity extended by the Chairperson, describing it as a blessing to start the year with such unexpected joy.
