Hon. Lanre Sarumi, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 general elections, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for his recent approval of an 80,000 Naira minimum wage for state workers. In a statement released by Sarumi, he described Governor Makinde’s action as a testament to his exceptional leadership and sensitivity to the plight of the people. Sarumi praised the governor for continually prioritizing the welfare of workers, which, he said, reflects the governor’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the people of Oyo State.

Sarumi highlighted that the wage increase comes at a crucial time when economic challenges are affecting families across Nigeria. He emphasized that Governor Makinde’s decision demonstrates a deep understanding of the struggles of the average worker and underscores his dedication to ensuring that the workers who serve the state are fairly compensated. According to Sarumi, the increase is not only a financial boost for workers, but also a morale booster that reinforces the sense of dignity and respect for the workforce in Oyo State.

The PDP candidate for Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the last general election also acknowledged that Governor Makinde’s leadership has inspired a new generation of public servants. Sarumi noted that the governor’s transparent, accountable, and compassionate leadership style has set a high standard for those aspiring to serve the public. He expressed that the governor’s actions serve as a model of selflessness, demonstrating the kind of leadership that aspiring politicians should emulate. “Governor Makinde’s dedication to the people is a lesson to all of us who hope to serve our communities with integrity and passion,” Sarumi remarked.

Concluding his statement, Sarumi expressed that Oyo State is fortunate to have such a visionary leader at this critical time in the nation’s history. He praised Governor Makinde for his remarkable achievements, which continue to make a positive impact on the lives of the people. “The people of Oyo State are truly lucky to have a governor who places their welfare above all else,” Sarumi said, offering his heartfelt thanks to the governor for his tireless efforts in improving the state and making it a better place for all.
