The Executive Assistant to the Governor on Disability Matters, Hon. Timothy Olufemi, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for transforming the lives and social standing of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Oyo State through his inclusive and people-oriented administration.
Hon. Olufemi noted that before the present administration, many persons with disabilities were often overlooked, excluded from opportunities, and rarely given meaningful representation in governance and public affairs.
According to him, Governor Makinde has changed that narrative by creating opportunities for persons with disabilities through employment, political appointments, empowerment programmes, representation, and inclusion in government activities.
“Today, persons with disabilities who were once overlooked are increasingly recognised, respected, and sought after because of the opportunities this administration has created for us. Governor Seyi Makinde has shown that disability should never be a reason to exclude anyone from contributing meaningfully to society.”

He noted that the progress recorded by the disability community should not be taken for granted, stressing that the opportunities created by the administration come with a responsibility to serve with integrity and gratitude.
Hon. Olufemi therefore urged persons with disabilities who have benefited from the administration to protect the dignity of the community by using their positions and opportunities responsibly.
“We must not misuse the opportunities we have been given. We must remember where this journey began and appreciate the leadership that opened doors for us. Our gratitude should be reflected in our actions, our service, and our commitment to the progress of Oyo State.”
He further encouraged members of the disability community to remain constructive, united, and supportive of policies that promote their welfare, while exercising their democratic rights responsibly.
Hon. Olufemi emphasised that supporting good governance does not mean abandoning personal convictions, but urged beneficiaries of the administration to avoid actions that deliberately undermine the same leadership and inclusive structures that have provided opportunities for them.
He concluded by appreciating Governor Seyi Makinde for giving persons with disabilities a stronger voice and a more visible place in Oyo State, while reaffirming the commitment of his office to ensuring that the progress recorded in disability inclusion continues to reach more people.
