As the impeachment crisis continues to stir tension within the Oyo State House of Assembly, Governor Seyi Makinde has publicly addressed the growing speculation, noting that his administration still has “about one year and one month… if I am not impeached by then.”
The governor made the remark during the inauguration of key committees focused on the state’s long-term tourism development and the forthcoming International Tourism Summit 2026. While outlining his vision for a 25-year roadmap to boost investment and position Oyo as a top destination, Makinde emphasized the need for structure, continuity, and global competitiveness.
Describing the initiative as one that will shape the state’s economic future, he noted that the administration is focused on building systems that inspire confidence and attract investors, regardless of political distractions.
His comment, however, comes against the backdrop of ongoing political rumblings within the Assembly, further bringing the issue of impeachment into public discourse even as the governor remains focused on governance and legacy projects.
