ACCESS DENIED IN APC, BUT GRANTED IN APM
A House of Assembly aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Hon. Shittu Wasiu Olorunsetemi, has officially declared his intention to leave the party and join the Allied People’s Movement (APM).
The declaration was made during a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Iwajowa Local Government Area, Hon. Oyewumi Muritala Abiodun (Natural), where extensive discussions were held to solidify his alignment with the APM ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the meeting, Alhaji Olorunsetemi stated that his decision to leave the APC was informed by what he described as the party’s failure to provide him with a free and fair opportunity to contest. He noted that despite his years of commitment and contributions to the APC, his efforts were not adequately recognized.

According to him, several consultations were held with his supporters before arriving at the decision to leave the party. He emphasized that joining the APM was a collective decision reached after careful consideration of the political realities in Iwajowa Local Government.
His supporters also expressed confidence in the leadership style and developmental efforts of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Oyewumi Muritala Abiodun, describing his achievements and inclusiveness as key factors that influenced their decision to join the APM.
They pledged their commitment to the growth of the party and assured members that they would work tirelessly to ensure the victory of the APM in the 2027 elections.
In his response, Hon. Oyewumi Muritala Abiodun and members of his Restoration Team warmly welcomed Alhaji Olorunsetemi and his supporters into the party. The Chairman described the development as a significant boost for the APM in Iwajowa Local Government.
He stated that the party would provide a conducive political environment where aspirations can be nurtured and achieved, adding that the political strength and experience of Alhaji Olorunsetemi would be greatly valued.
Hon. Abiodun further remarked that the APC’s failure to recognize and reward Olorunsetemi’s political contributions had turned into a blessing for the APM, assuring him of support from the government, party stakeholders, and members across the local government.
He expressed confidence that the new entrant would play a vital role in strengthening the party’s structure and enhancing its electoral prospects ahead of future elections.
