As the world marks International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, Mayegun Sunday Olusegun Babanumi, the founder of the Sunday Olusegun Babanumi Initiative has extended his heartfelt appreciation to women globally.

In particular, the Oyo Reps Hopeful saluted the resilience, strength, and contributions of the women of Ibadan NorthWest and SouthWest Federal Constituency, recognizing their pivotal role in building strong families and shaping a brighter future.

Speaking on this year’s IWD theme, “Accelerate Action,” Babanumi emphasized the need for urgent and intentional efforts to advance women’s rights, close gender gaps, and ensure equal opportunities for all.

“Women are the backbone of our society, playing vital roles in governance, business, and family life. This year’s theme reminds us that we must move beyond discussions and take decisive steps to empower women, not just in Oyo State but across Nigeria,” he stated.

Babanumi also applauded Governor Seyi Makinde for his commitment to gender inclusion and the empowerment of women in Oyo State. He commended the governor for appointing women to key positions in his administration, ensuring that their voices are heard in policymaking and governance.

As part of his advocacy for women’s development, Babanumi reiterated his commitment to initiatives that promote education, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities for women in Ibadan NorthWest and SouthWest.

He urged stakeholders across all sectors to take concrete steps toward achieving gender equity.
