Seventeen years may have passed since the transition of the formidable political titan, High Chief Lamidi Ariyibi Akanji Adedibu, yet his legacy continues to resonate powerfully across the political landscape of Oyo State and Nigeria at large. Known as the “strongman of Ibadan politics,”

Chief Adedibu’s influence remains etched in the hearts and minds of many, a testament to a life deeply woven into the fabric of grassroots politics.
Adedibu, who passed on in 2008, was a towering figure whose political mastery, generosity, and firm grip on the pulse of the masses shaped the political careers of many, including governors, lawmakers, and party leaders.

His Amala politics; a grassroots approach grounded in direct engagement and support for the people, redefined patronage and political strategy in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.

Today, his enduring legacy is not only remembered but celebrated by associates, political protégés, and loved ones.

His wife, Alhaja Abosede Modinat Adedibu, joins in this remembrance with heartfelt prayers:
“Aljanah Firdausi continue to be your abode, AMEN.”

Though absent in body, High Chief Adedibu’s presence continues to guide and inspire a new generation of political thinkers and actors. His Molete residence, once the epicenter of political activity in Ibadan, still draws admirers and loyalists who remember his towering contributions to unity, loyalty, and grassroots empowerment.
As Oyo State and Nigeria reflect on the values he championed, one truth remains:
The impact is still strong. The legacy is still evident.
Seventeen years on, High Chief Lamidi Adedibu is gone, but never forgotten.
May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace.
