The Ido Local Government Campaign Council of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has commenced stakeholder engagement and strategic consultations following its inauguration on Monday, 5 October 2026, signalling an early push towards building a coordinated campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The council, led by its Director-General, Hammed Ademola Babalola, popularly known as “Itesiwaju Ido,” has spent its first week engaging political leaders, government officials and key stakeholders while laying the groundwork for its campaign activities across Ido Local Government.
The early engagements reflect the council’s determination to translate its inauguration into practical action, strengthen relationships within the party and build a united structure capable of mobilising support across the local government.
Strategic Courtesy Visits to Key Leaders and Stakeholders

As part of its first-week activities, the campaign council embarked on courtesy visits to prominent political leaders and public officeholders.
The delegation visited the Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, as well as the Chairman of the Oyo State Water Corporation, Hon. Elias Adeojo.
The team also paid a visit to the Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamoru Abiodun Aderibigbe, alongside Hon. Rasaq Adekunle Mabaje, Member representing Ido State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly.
The council further engaged Hon. Matthew Kayode Akano, Special Assistant to the Governor on Ido/Ibarapa East, as part of its broader consultations with stakeholders connected to the political and administrative development of the area.
These engagements provided opportunities for interaction, relationship-building and discussions around the importance of cooperation, grassroots engagement and effective political organisation.
The delegation also met with respected party leaders and stakeholders, including Alhaji Akinsola Ayuba, Alhaji Musibau Emiloa, Alhaji Oladokun and Alhaji Kamaruden Ajigbotolorun.
Particular recognition was accorded to Malam Muili Yusuf, regarded by the team as the overall leader of the party structure in Ido. His leadership and standing among party members remain important to the council’s commitment to unity, consultation and collective action.
A Team Approach to Campaign Organisation
The activities were undertaken by the campaign council’s leadership team, comprising:
Hammed Ademola Babalola — Director-General
Olumide Akinola — Deputy Coordinator
Romoke Adebayo — Women Coordinator
Obisesan Nurudeen — Youth Coordinator
Omofoweya Aliu Gbenga — Secretary
The participation of the officers reflects the council’s emphasis on collective responsibility and an inclusive organisational structure that recognises the importance of leadership, women’s participation, youth mobilisation and effective administration.
Rather than operating as individuals or separate units, the team is working towards a coordinated framework that connects stakeholder engagement with grassroots mobilisation and campaign planning across Ido Local Government.
Inaugural Meeting Signals the Next Phase
Following the courtesy visits, the campaign council held its inaugural meeting to begin discussions on its operational direction and campaign priorities.
The meeting marked an important transition from inauguration to organisation, providing an opportunity for members to deliberate on the responsibilities ahead and the need for a structured approach to the forthcoming elections.
With political activities expected to intensify ahead of 2027, the council’s immediate focus is on strengthening its local structure, engaging stakeholders across the ten wards of Ido Local Government and developing effective coordination among the different levels of the party’s campaign machinery.
The Five-Star Campaign Goal
At the centre of the council’s emerging strategy is what it describes as the Five-Star Campaign Goal—a coordinated effort covering five electoral contests:
1. Presidential Election: Seyi Makinde
2. Oyo State Governorship Election: Abimbola Adekanmbi
3. Oyo South Senatorial Election: Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo
4. Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency: Hon. Adedeji Kolawole Sheu
5. Ido State Constituency: Hon. Omotosho Rafiu
The names and electoral positions above are presented as supplied for this campaign report and should be checked against the party’s final approved candidate list before publication.
The Five-Star Campaign Goal is built around the idea that success requires coordination across all five electoral levels rather than separate campaign efforts operating in isolation.
Accordingly, the Ido Local Government Campaign Council intends to work with the respective campaign coordinators for the senatorial and House of Representatives candidates, while maintaining communication and cooperation across the wider campaign structure.
The objective is to establish a common direction for mobilisation, strengthen collaboration among campaign teams and ensure that activities across the ten wards contribute to a coherent local government-wide effort.
With the nomination process described by the council as concluded and its candidates identified, the focus is now shifting towards organisation, stakeholder engagement, mobilisation and the practical work required to build support.
The council’s stated aspiration is to work, with the help of God, towards delivering Ido Local Government for its candidates in the 2027 elections.
Babalola: “We Are Determined to Build a Coordinated Structure”
Speaking on the direction of the council, Director-General Hammed Ademola Babalola, popularly known as Itesiwaju Ido, emphasised the importance of unity, strategic planning and collective responsibility.
He said:
> “I am deeply honoured by the confidence reposed in me by the leaders and executive arm of our great party. This appointment is not just a title; it is a responsibility and a reflection of the direction we are moving towards in Ido Local Government.
For me, leadership is about responsibility, service and the ability to bring people together around a common purpose. I recognise the importance of this assignment and remain committed to working with our leaders, stakeholders and team members to build a well-coordinated campaign structure across Ido Local Government.
I believe this is an opportunity to demonstrate the capacity of young people to contribute meaningfully to leadership, organisation and the advancement of our local government. I do not take this trust for granted, and I am determined to justify the confidence reposed in me.”
Babalola’s political journey includes his service as Member Representing Ido in the Second Assembly of the Oyo State Youth Parliament, followed by his aspiration for the chairmanship of Ido Local Government and his current responsibility within the APM campaign structure.
His appointment represents another opportunity to contribute to political organisation and leadership at the local government level.
From Inauguration to Action
The first week’s activities demonstrate the council’s intention to begin with consultation, relationship-building and internal coordination.
The visits to public officeholders and party leaders, followed by the inaugural meeting, form part of the foundation the council hopes to build before campaign activities intensify.
As the 2027 elections approach, the challenge will be to translate these early engagements into sustained ward-level organisation, effective communication and collaboration among the campaign teams representing the five electoral contests.
For the Ido Local Government Campaign Council, the message is clear: the work begins with unity, grows through coordination and depends on consistent engagement with the people.
With its Five-Star Campaign Goal as a guiding framework, the council is setting out to build a coordinated campaign operation across Ido Local Government, working alongside party leaders, stakeholders and campaign partners towards its electoral objectives.
The inauguration may have marked the beginning of the assignment, but the first week’s activities suggest that the council intends to move quickly from appointment to action.
