Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has received high praise for his outstanding contributions to Agribusiness and youth development in the state. This commendation came from the Chairman of the IBSWLG, Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Moor Plantation, Ibadan, during the institution’s 61st Anniversary and Convocation Ceremony.

The event, themed “Bridging Past & Future: Advancing Animal Production and Health through Science, Technology, and Policy in Nigeria,” provided a platform for stakeholders to acknowledge Governor Makinde’s efforts in transforming Oyo State’s Agribusiness sector and promoting Agribusiness in Oyo State, paving the way for a brighter future for the state’s citizens.
Governor Makinde’s move is expected to boost the state’s agricultural sector, creating opportunities for farmers to increase their productivity and contribute to the state’s food security. By making land availablein Ibadan South West, Governor Makinde’s administration is demonstrating its commitment to supporting the agricultural industry and promoting sustainable development in Oyo State.

The availability of land for farming is a significant incentive for investors and farmers, and it is likely to attract more agricultural projects to the state. This, in turn, can lead to job creation, improved livelihoods, and increased economic activity in the state. Overall, Governor Makinde’s initiative is a positive step towards promoting agricultural growth and development in Oyo State.

He noted that Oyo State has witnessed a significant increase in agricultural production, making it a major contributor to Nigeria’s food security. The agribusiness hubs and vocational training programs have created employment opportunities for thousands of youths, reducing unemployment and poverty. The chairman also shared that the empowerment programs for youths and farmers have improved their livelihoods, enabling them to provide for their families and contribute to the state’s economy.

Akande concluded that the state’s investment in agribusiness and youth development has attracted investors, stakeholders, and partners, further boosting the state’s economy. “Governor Makinde’s administration has demonstrated its commitment to the development of Oyo State, and its strategic investments in agribusiness and youth development will have a lasting impact on the state’s future”.
Notable dignitaries attended the event, including PROF. GARBA HAMIDU SHARUBUTU, Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, as Guest of Honour. HRM OBA EDWARD OYEWOLE, Osi Olubadan of Ibadan Land, graced the occasion as Royal Father of the Day. PROF. SAMUEL SOLADOYE ABIOLA, a renowned scholar and Professor of Animal Science, delivered the keynote address, while DR. ADEKOYA OLATUNDE OWOSIBO, Provost, also played a key role.
