The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Adeyemi Akande, has extended his warmest greetings to the good people of Ibadan South West Local Government, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large on the occasion of this year’s June 12 Democracy Day.
In a statement made available to the press men, Hon. Akande reflected on the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s forebears to entrench democracy in the country, noting that June 12 is a celebration of the nation’s collective resolve to uphold democratic values and principles. He paid tribute to the courage and vision of Chief MKO Abiola, who fought tirelessly for Nigeria’s democracy.
The Executive Chairman acknowledged the progress made by Nigeria as a nation and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening democratic institutions. He urged all Nigerians to promote peace, unity, and stability, which are essential for the country’s growth and development.
Hon. Akande emphasized the importance of active participation in the democratic process and encouraged Nigerians to work together towards a brighter future. He also appealed to Nigerians to reflect on the progress made so far and identify areas that require improvement as the nation celebrates this year’s Democracy Day under the theme “Enhancing Democracy for National Development.”
