Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has held a constituency town meeting and projects commissioning as part of the activities marking his second year in office.

The town hall meeting was held at the New Ayete Town Hall on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, where members of constituents, representatives of different associations/organisations, traditional, religious and political leaders assembled to discuss pertinent issues related to the development of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairmen of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Local Government Areas, Hon. Olusola Adeleke and Hon. (Alh.) Lateef Akorede, expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the kind of efforts Hon. Adepoju put into governance, culminating in so many physical projects, programmes and initiatives that address the challenges that the people of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency face.

They emphasised that truly, when the righteous are in power, the people rejoice.

The traditional rulers, in their separate remarks, passed a vote of confidence in Hon. Adepoju for his effective representation in the last two years. According to them, the lawmaker has redefined leadership by leaving no stone unturned to use his office to serve his people meritoriously.

They appreciated the lawmaker’s inclusive and fair approach in his dealings, ensuring that resources meant for the constituency are evenly distributed.

The leaders of various associations also commended the lawmaker, urging him not to relent in finding a lasting solution to the issue of lack of electricity supply in the federal constituency.

Admonishing the political officeholders about the need to remember yesterday, today and tomorrow, the former commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Hon. (Alh.) Mukaila Majekodunmi Aborode, urged members of the political class to remember the people who voted for them and also remember tomorrow. He advised that everybody should be concerned about tomorrow. The Igangan-born politician commended Hon. Adepoju on all his developmental projects across the constituency.

Also in her own address, Hon. (Mrs.) Olufunmilayo Orisadey gave kudos to Hon. Adepoju, saying that Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North elected a true servant of the people in 2023. The former lawmaker and commissioner sought divine blessings in the life of Hon. Adepoju, praying for his protection and more political accomplishments so that the people of the constituency can enjoy him for long.

Also, the President of the Federation of Ibarapa Students’ Association, Com. Rokeeb Adekunle Adeegbe, who spoke on behalf of all the community students’ unions in the constituency, thanked Hon. Adepoju for his open-door policies. According to him, Hon. Adepoju’s good representation is evident in every nook and cranny of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North, urging the lawmaker not to relent on his oars. Speaking further, the students’ leader asked the lawmaker to donate a students’ bus to each of the students’ unions in all five communities comprising Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency as well as award a bursary to the students’ community.

Addressing the constituents, Hon. Adepoju recognised the presence of The Executive Chairman, Ibarapa North Local Area, the Executive Chairman, Ibarapa Central LGA, Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Oyo State on constituency matters, the Executive Vice Chairman, Ibarapa North Local Area, the Executive Vice Chairman Ibarapa Central LGA, the leaders of the House of parliament in Ibarapa North LGA, The Leaders of the House of Parliament in Ibarapa Central LGA, all serving councillors, supervisory councillors and special assistants to the Executive Chairmen in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North LGAs, former state commissioners, the Asawo of Ayete Land (our host monarch), the Olu of Igboora Land, the Asingangan of Igangan, the Elempe of Tapa, the Onidere of Idere Land, Olu Aso of Iberekodo, Oni Sagaun of Sagaun-Un, Baba Aso of iberekodo Igbole, the Regent of Pako, the Chairman PDP Ibarapa North LGA, the Chairman of PDP Ibarapa Central, all LGA party Executives of the PDP, the leaders of PDP in the constituency, member, State Advisory Board of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Leaders and members of the PDP, members of all other political parties, community and religious leaders, Heads of security agencies of government, all invited guests, all the traditional chiefs in the constituency, leaders and members of all the invited associations in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North, market men and women in attendance, students’ union bodies, members of the press, ladies and gentlemen.

Expressing his appreciation to his people, the lawmaker said, “I feel highly honoured to address you this morning while thanking you for the mandate given to me freely 2 years ago. As the quote says, “To whom much is given, much is expected.” Today is not a day to bore you down with lengthy rhetoric but to announce what we have been able to do with the mandate given to us in the last 24 months. There is no better way to express my gratitude for your show of support before, during and after the election and, most importantly, as I continue to represent you in the Nigerian House of Representatives.

“I appreciate our traditional rulers, leaders of associations/organisations and community men and women for making it up here today despite the short notice simply to chart a course for the development of our constituency.

“Before I proceed, I appreciate my leader and mentor, His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, for his inspiring leadership style, which has influenced me in all ramifications of my stewardship since 2023.

“Just like the first constituency town hall meeting held last year, the essence of today’s event is also to listen to ourselves and discuss our concerns and needs so as to solve them collectively, as a single tree cannot make a forest. Like I said during the electioneering campaign, I will never assume to know more than you. This way of life has shaped our decisions as a government and enabled us to facilitate monumental projects that are of community interest.

“In the last two years, we can beat our chest that we have touched virtually every area of human needs; we have initiated programmes and policies that ameliorate the living conditions of our teeming constituents educationally, economically, technologically and health-wise. Through our stewardship, we have demonstrated that true power resides in the hands of the led and that they, as such, deserve all forms of attention. We made accessibility, accountability and transparency our guiding principles, enabling us to deliver true dividends of democracy in our community.

“As we move ahead, aside from a series of things we have achieved, we also have a lot of proposed projects to be carried out this year. Part of it is the changing of all the faulty electric poles from Eruwa to Igangan to address the problem of electricity in our constituency because we believe that when there is no light, the economy suffers and the standard of living remains a nightmare. We are planning to buy tractors for our farmers in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency to eliminate the need for them to pay exorbitant fees to cultivate their land for planting various crops, thereby boosting their productivity and achieving the sustainable goal of food security in the constituency, we are also planning to reconstruct the existing town hall in Igangan which will commence anytime soon, my vision is primarily to have a fully equipped modern town hall, vocational and educational centres, all in one, where teeming youths, including students and residents, can have their social events, different vocational skill acquisitions and examination centres, such as JAMB, we have a lot of schools to be renovated and more to be built, we have a lot of programmes for our constituent and also tomorrow, Thursday, June 26, 2025 we will be empowering 1,000 widows in Igboora, Idere, Ayete, Tapa and Igangan. I want to also seize this moment to also urge our widows to remain orderly as the list comes in batches. If your name is not included in the list of the 1000 widows to provide social support tomorrow, don’t go there, as your name will be in the second or third batches which we have concluded to host every month. I want to assure us all that just as we have been celebrating a lot of developmental projects in our respective communities since 2023, I have also lobbied for a number of projects and initiatives to be carried out in our constituency once the 2025 budget starts running,” Hon. Adepoju said.

The federal lawmaker also seized the moment to highlight a series of projects and initiatives he had facilitated in the last two years, including:
