Expressing his appreciation to his people, the lawmaker said, “I feel highly honoured to address you this morning while thanking you for the mandate given to me freely 2 years ago. As the quote says, “To whom much is given, much is expected.” Today is not a day to bore you down with lengthy rhetoric but to announce what we have been able to do with the mandate given to us in the last 24 months. There is no better way to express my gratitude for your show of support before, during and after the election and, most importantly, as I continue to represent you in the Nigerian House of Representatives.
“I appreciate our traditional rulers, leaders of associations/organisations and community men and women for making it up here today despite the short notice simply to chart a course for the development of our constituency.
“Before I proceed, I appreciate my leader and mentor, His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, for his inspiring leadership style, which has influenced me in all ramifications of my stewardship since 2023.
“Just like the first constituency town hall meeting held last year, the essence of today’s event is also to listen to ourselves and discuss our concerns and needs so as to solve them collectively, as a single tree cannot make a forest. Like I said during the electioneering campaign, I will never assume to know more than you. This way of life has shaped our decisions as a government and enabled us to facilitate monumental projects that are of community interest.
“In the last two years, we can beat our chest that we have touched virtually every area of human needs; we have initiated programmes and policies that ameliorate the living conditions of our teeming constituents educationally, economically, technologically and health-wise. Through our stewardship, we have demonstrated that true power resides in the hands of the led and that they, as such, deserve all forms of attention. We made accessibility, accountability and transparency our guiding principles, enabling us to deliver true dividends of democracy in our community.
“As we move ahead, aside from a series of things we have achieved, we also have a lot of proposed projects to be carried out this year. Part of it is the changing of all the faulty electric poles from Eruwa to Igangan to address the problem of electricity in our constituency because we believe that when there is no light, the economy suffers and the standard of living remains a nightmare. We are planning to buy tractors for our farmers in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency to eliminate the need for them to pay exorbitant fees to cultivate their land for planting various crops, thereby boosting their productivity and achieving the sustainable goal of food security in the constituency, we are also planning to reconstruct the existing town hall in Igangan which will commence anytime soon, my vision is primarily to have a fully equipped modern town hall, vocational and educational centres, all in one, where teeming youths, including students and residents, can have their social events, different vocational skill acquisitions and examination centres, such as JAMB, we have a lot of schools to be renovated and more to be built, we have a lot of programmes for our constituent and also tomorrow, Thursday, June 26, 2025 we will be empowering 1,000 widows in Igboora, Idere, Ayete, Tapa and Igangan. I want to also seize this moment to also urge our widows to remain orderly as the list comes in batches. If your name is not included in the list of the 1000 widows to provide social support tomorrow, don’t go there, as your name will be in the second or third batches which we have concluded to host every month. I want to assure us all that just as we have been celebrating a lot of developmental projects in our respective communities since 2023, I have also lobbied for a number of projects and initiatives to be carried out in our constituency once the 2025 budget starts running,” Hon. Adepoju said.
The federal lawmaker also seized the moment to highlight a series of projects and initiatives he had facilitated in the last two years, including:
