The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Adeyemi Akande, has congratulated the Arole Iba Oluyole, Chief Nureni Akanbi, on his elevation to the prestigious title of Aare Ago Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Chief Nureni Akanbi was elevated by His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, in recognition of his immense contributions to the growth and development of Ibadanland, his commitment to the Olubadan institution, and his service to humanity.
In a congratulatory statement issued on Satuday, Hon. Kehinde Akande described the elevation as well-deserved and a testament to Chief Akanbi’s unwavering dedication to Ibadanland.
According to the Council Chairman, Chief Akanbi has over the years distinguished himself as a true son of Ibadan, a cultural ambassador, and a bridge-builder whose influence has positively impacted the youth, traditional institution and the socio-political landscape of the ancient city.

“On behalf of the good people and government of Ibadan South West Local Government, I heartily congratulate our father, leader and icon, Arole Iba Oluyole, Chief Nureni Akanbi, on his well-deserved elevation as Aare Ago Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland,” Hon. Akande said.
“This elevation is not just a personal honour, but a recognition of your decades of selfless service, your loyalty to the throne of Olubadan, your passion for the preservation of Ibadan culture and values, and your philanthropic gestures to our people.”
Hon. Akande noted that as a former Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government himself, Chief Akanbi laid a solid foundation for grassroots governance and remains a reference point in purposeful leadership at the local government level.
He added that the title of Aare Ago Balogun is one of the most revered in the Olubadan chieftaincy hierarchy, reserved for warriors and distinguished personalities who have shown courage, wisdom and commitment to the land.
“This new title is a call to higher service, and we have no doubt that you will continue to bring your wealth of experience, influence and wisdom to bear for the progress of Ibadanland and Oyo State at large,” he stated.
Hon. Akande prayed for long life, good health, and greater wisdom for the newly elevated chief, asking Almighty Allah to grant him a successful reign in his new office.
He also commended the Olubadan of Ibadanland for finding Chief Akanbi worthy of the elevation, describing the decision of the Olubadan-in-Council as a round peg in a round hole.
