The lawmaker representing Ibadan South East/North East federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has expressed commitment to give massive support for whoever emerges the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the forthcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election to replace late Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi.
The seat had become vacant following the death of Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who was in his first year of a second consecutive term in the green chambers.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has scheduled Saturday 18th of January 2025 for the Ibadan North federal constituency Bye-Election.
Agboworin, while speaking recently during an interview on Fresh 105.9FM, on a programme entitled ‘Agbami Òsèlú’, which was hosted by Abolade Salami, noted that he is confident that PDP would secure the seat.
The Chairman of House Committee on Narcotics Drugs maintained that if the PDP candidate is given the opportunity to occupy the seat, “critical stakeholders and myself would work together to ensure that the template of development in Ibadan South East/North East federal constituency, would be replicated in Ibadan North federal constituency.”
According to him, the current occupant of the seat is from the All progressives Congress, APC, but the reality is that “whoever emerges the candidate from our party, we are ready to give my full support to ensure he wins the election.”
“We will let the people know that if they vote for the PDP candidate, he will become part of us and we will show him the way in the National Assembly so that he can facilitate a lot of projects for the people of his constituency just the way Akinremi was doing before he left us,” Agboworin said.
He emphasized that his commitment to the development of Ibadan is unwavering, and he believes that PDP victory in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency election is crucial to achieving this goal.
He stated: “We will make sure that our great party, the PDP, wins the seat so that somebody like me, Rep. Stanley Adedeji (Odidiomo) and other Rep members from Ibadan would support him in the National Assembly.
This is because we are all after the development of Ibadan and Oyo State. This is our state, and we must work together to ensure its continued development and growth.”
The two-term lawmaker cited the exemplary leadership of Akinremi Jagaban, who he described as a ‘striker’ who went the extra mile to bring development to his people.
Agboworin had initiated major projects including the construction of a six-classroom block at Saint Joseph Primary School, aimed at improving education in his constituency;
supported market men and women through his Market Grant Scheme; provided cash grants to help them overcome interest loans and boost their businesses.
As a result of his proven track record of delivering on his promises, Agboworin and his colleagues in the National Assembly are determined to play a key role in ensuring PDP’s success in the forthcoming election.
