On Thursday, 4 September, 2025, The Oyo State Government has released another tranche of compensation payments to property owners affected by the Right of Way of the Ibadan Circular Road (ICR) project.

According to the Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Akin-Funmilayo Williams, more than ₦200 million has been disbursed to over 25 beneficiaries in this phase. He further explained that, in total, the Makinde-led administration has so far paid out approximately ₦780 million in compensation to affected persons.

Mr. Williams emphasized that the move reflects Governor Seyi Makinde ’s commitment to ensuring fairness and transparency in the execution of the landmark Circular Road project, which is expected to transform the state’s transportation network, ease traffic congestion, and open up new corridors of economic development.

According to Mr Akin-Funmilayo, presently, we still have about 106 affected people yet to show up for screening , profiling and verification exercise and we appeal to them to come forth so we can conclude the process for them to get their compensation in due time. Their compensation fund is available in the Bank but due to the incomplete verification process yet concluded affects the release of the funds to them.

We are running an open and transparent process to avoid impostor or impersonation hence the need for physical availability of beneficiaries as we call on them to show up at the Ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development.

“This administration is a government of its word. Every affected citizen will be duly compensated as we continue to drive the Circular Road to completion for the benefit of all residents of Oyo State,” Williams noted.

In their separate remarks, some of the beneficiaries including Badmus Kanir and Kolawole Funmi, who spoke with journalists expressed gratitude to the Seyi Makinde led government for fulfilling its promise in due time and prayed for more successful accomplishments in his administration.

The Ibadan Circular Road remains one of the flagship infrastructural projects under Governor Makinde, strategically designed to boost commerce, attract investment, and solidify Ibadan’s position as a modern economic hub.

E-Signed:
Hon. Akin-Funmilayo Williams
Honorable Commissioner Ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development
