A chieftain of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Mogaji Akin Fagbemi, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the activities and welfare of Mogajis in Ibadanland, declaring that he remains an integral part of the traditional family.

Fagbemi made the declaration while presenting a donation of ₦1 million to the Association of Ibadan North-West Mogajis in support of its anniversary celebration held at Adepoju Hall, Ibadan North-West Local Government, Onireke, Ibadan.

Speaking at the event, Fagbemi described the Mogajis as important custodians of Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage and grassroots identity, noting that their contributions to preserving the city’s history, culture and traditions deserved recognition and continued support.

“I am one of you, and I will continue to support our Mogajis. This donation is my own contribution towards the success of this anniversary and a demonstration of my commitment to our traditional institution,” he said.

Fagbemi stressed that his relationship with the Mogajis was not driven by political considerations, but was rooted in a shared heritage, identity and commitment to the development of Ibadanland.

“Our relationship goes beyond politics. We share the same heritage, the same identity and the same concern for the progress of Ibadanland. I will continue to support our Mogajis whenever I have the opportunity to do so,” he added.

He commended the Association of Ibadan North-West Mogajis for sustaining its anniversary tradition and promoting unity and cooperation among Mogajis and traditional families across the axis.

Fagbemi urged the Mogajis to continue providing responsible leadership at the grassroots and to use their positions to promote peace, unity, cultural preservation and community development across Ibadanland.

He also emphasised the important role of traditional institutions in fostering peaceful coexistence and strengthening grassroots development, calling for greater collaboration among traditional rulers, Mogajis, political leaders and other stakeholders.

According to him, collective efforts and stronger partnerships remained essential to achieving sustainable development and preserving the cultural identity of Ibadanland.

Receiving the donation, the leadership of the Association of Ibadan North-West Mogajis expressed appreciation to Fagbemi for his gesture, describing the donation as a demonstration of his commitment to the association and the traditional heritage of Ibadanland.

The association noted that the contribution would support the success of the anniversary celebration while further strengthening the bond between Fagbemi and the Mogajis.

The anniversary attracted Mogajis, community leaders, traditional stakeholders and other dignitaries, who gathered to celebrate the association’s contributions to the preservation of Ibadan’s heritage and the development of the city.
