It was a joyous moment as the residents and motorists of Olodo area of Egbeda Local Government trooped out to welcome the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde represented by the Deputy Governor Barr. Bayo Lawal to the Opening “2 SPAN 20 by 20 METER BRIDGE” at Olodo area of Egbeda Local Government on 20th of May, 2025.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony attended by the Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen and the members, Oyo State House of Assembly, traditional, religious and political leaders, among others, Governor Seyi Makinde represented by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal expressed confidence that the bridge exemplifies Governor Seyi Makinde administration’s dedication in advancing sustainable development through the provision of modern infrastructure, as the bridge will further enhance economic achievements in the area of Olodo, Egbeda local government.

“the critical infrastructure project delivered on schedule, reflected his administration’s dedication to improving the lives of Oyo State residents through purposeful governance” said Barr. Bayo Lawal

“It would be recalled that the bridge was devastated by the flood which led to the bridge collapsed following a torrential rain on July 3, 2023, a situation that has left residents and road users in agonizing experience”.

The Executive Chairman, Egbeda LGA, Hon. Sanda Sikiru eulogized Governor Seyi Makinde for the impactful and significant development happening in the area of Olodo, Egbeda Local Government.

“We were all aware that, without immediate and proactive approach intervention, the situation could have escalated into a tragedy with potential loss of lives, but in response to the people of Olodo and its environs cried out through the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru to His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde, who in his usual prompt and compassionate manner, headed the call without delay”.

Hon. Sanda expressed his deepest gratitude to the governor for prioritizing the needs of the people and for his unwavering commitment to infrastructural development as the road will undoubtedly transform our community, boost economic activity, and significantly improve the quality of life for all residents.

“It is well noted that the bridge does not only serve the residents of Olodo but also connects the neighboring states, which make it a critical infrastructure for regional connectivity and development.

There were also goodwill messages from traditional and religious rulers including the motorists and residents of Olodo, They all commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering infrastructural development across the state, saying the bridge has enhanced socio-economic activities in the area of Olodo, while also eulogized the council boss, Hon. Sanda for his unwavering commitment to the development of egbeda local government.

The occasion had in attendance the Commissioner for Local Government and Cheiftancy matters, Hon. Demola Ojo; Commissioner for Works, Transport and Infrastructure, Hon. Mojeed Mogbojubola; Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Akin-Funmilayo Williams; OYHA, Deputy Majority Leader representing Egbeda State Constituency, Hon. Olasunkanmi Babalola; Executive Chairman, Lagelu local government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen; Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni and all other special invited dignitaries.
