Hon. Lanre Sarumi Commiserates with Gov. Makinde Over Olubadan’s Passing, Describes It as Celebration of a Fulfilled Life

Hon. Lanre Sarumi, a prominent personality and respected chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, has extended his heartfelt condolences to Governor Seyi Makinde and the entire people of Ibadan over the passing of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

In a message made available to the press, Hon. Sarumi described the transition of the revered monarch not just as a moment of grief, but more significantly, as the celebration of a life well spent in the service of his people and the promotion of Ibadan’s cultural heritage.

“While it is indeed painful to bid farewell to a traditional ruler of such rare wisdom, dignity, and grace, we take solace in the remarkable legacy he has left behind,” Sarumi noted. “Kabiyesi lived a life of purpose, honor, and peace, and his reign will be remembered for its calm, progressive impact on the people of Ibadanland.”

He commiserated deeply with Governor Seyi Makinde, under whose administration the revered monarch ascended the throne, acknowledging the close relationship the governor shared with the late Oba and the pivotal role both played in maintaining peace and unity across the state.

“This is a personal loss to the governor and an irreplaceable one to Ibadanland. I pray that God grants His Excellency the strength to bear this loss and continue to lead the state with the wisdom that has endeared him to the people,” he added.

Hon. Sarumi also extended his sympathies to the royal family and the Olubadan-in-Council, praying for divine comfort and guidance as they navigate this moment of transition.

“To the immediate family of our beloved Olubadan, may the Almighty console you and bless you with the strength to carry on the torch of his legacy. The entire Ibadanland, and indeed Oyo State, shares in your loss,”
