In a recent statement that has stirred conversation in Oyo State’s political and business circles, renowned international politics and media expert, Ayinla Pol, emphatically declared that having meaningful personalities like Oloye Adegboyega Adegoke, popularly known as Gboye ATA, in the political landscape of Oyo State is by no means an error.

The statement comes amidst growing discussions about the role of professionals and seasoned leaders in Nigerian politics.

Adegoke, a well-established figure in the financial sector and beyond, has a resume that spans over three decades in various leadership capacities.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and an alumnus of some of the world’s most prestigious institutions, including Obafemi Awolowo University, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Oxford.

His career, which has seen him in high-profile roles across the oil and gas, financial services, and consulting sectors, is a testament to his vast expertise and strategic acumen.

According to Ayinla Pol, “Oloye Adegoke’s background in financial management, his experience with mergers, acquisitions, and business turnarounds, and his demonstrated leadership make him an asset to Oyo State politics.

It’s not an error to have individuals like him engage in the political process. His contributions can bring much-needed reforms, transparency, and sustainable development to the state.”

His comments underscore the importance of bringing professionals with proven leadership capabilities into governance, especially in regions like Oyo State, which are striving for greater economic growth and infrastructural development.

Adegoke’s credentials, which include senior roles with international companies like Schlumberger and Oando Energy Services, highlight a rare combination of technical expertise and strategic foresight that many political analysts believe can offer a fresh perspective on state governance.

In addition to his business achievements, Adegoke holds several honorary titles in Ibadanland, including the prestigious position of Aare-Onibon Balogun of Ibadanland.

His strong cultural ties and deep understanding of local dynamics position him as a potential bridge between traditional leadership and modern governance.

Ayinla Pol from Germany, who is also an advocate for the inclusion of well-rounded, results-oriented leaders in political roles, believes that the infusion of such talents into the political arena would elevate the quality of governance.

“We need leaders who not only understand the complexities of managing a state but also possess the moral and ethical foundation to drive public policy that benefits the people,” he said.

Adegoke’s journey from a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University to holding leadership positions in multinational companies speaks to his unwavering commitment to excellence.

He has served in various capacities, from the Chief Financial Officer at Oando Energy Services to Director positions at several other organizations, and he currently chairs several successful ventures in diverse industries, including hospitality, energy, and microfinance.

As Oyo State continues to navigate its development challenges, stakeholders like Ayinla Pol believe that figures like Adegoke are integral to ushering in a new era of progress and accountability.

In a state with immense economic potential, having someone with Adegoke’s level of expertise and integrity in politics may just be the catalyst needed to transform the region’s future.

“Adegoke’s wealth of experience is not an error; it is an opportunity. His leadership can inspire confidence in the people and attract much-needed investments into Oyo State,” he concluded.

With influential voices like Ayinla Pol backing the involvement of professionals like Oloye Adegoke, it is clear that there is a growing movement advocating for a more structured, expert-driven approach to governance in Oyo State.

The coming months may see more of such individuals stepping into the political spotlight, and if their leadership mirrors their accomplishments in other sectors, Oyo State may soon witness a significant transformation.
