Gbolarumi debunks defection rumours, reaffirms party’s strength

Former Deputy Governor and PDP Chieftain in Oyo State, His Excellency Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, has debunked widespread rumours suggesting that he visited Former governor of Osun state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to perfect his defection to ADC.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson Olaniyi Stephen, and made available to Pressmen in Ibadan on Monday 3rd of November, 2025, he described the rumours as false, baseless, and a calculated attempt by political detractors to mislead the public and sow division within the party.

Gbolarumi remains a committed and loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had never for once defected from PDP from its inception .

I therefore urge the public and PDP members across all levels to disregard these fabricated reports and treat them with the contempt they deserve, while he remains united, focused, and committed to strengthening our party, supporting good governance, and advancing the development of Oyo State” he said

He attributed the sustained support for the PDP to the remarkable achievements of the present administration under Governor Seyi Makinde, especially in the areas of infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture, and youth and women empowerment.

He urged the people of Oyo State to disregard the defection rumours, insisting they are nothing but politically motivated fabrications.
