A chieftain of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon. Debo Akande, has been commended for fulfilling his promise to support a person with disability by donating a wheelchair to ease her mobility challenges.
The wheelchair was presented on June 8, 2026, to Mrs. Akinlosoti Adijat Ajoke, a physically challenged woman who had reportedly been crawling from one place to another due to her condition. The gesture followed a courtesy visit facilitated by Hon. Wasiu Nurudeen, popularly known as Oba-Aro, alongside other Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), to appreciate Hon. Debo Akande for his outstanding contributions and service to the people.
During the earlier visit, Hon. Akande was deeply moved after witnessing the condition of Mrs. Akinlosoti, who struggled with movement without the aid of a wheelchair. He immediately promised to provide her with one to improve her mobility and quality of life.
True to his word, Hon. Akande fulfilled the pledge when the wheelchair was officially handed over to the beneficiary. Overwhelmed with joy, Mrs. Akinlosoti expressed profound gratitude to the politician, noting that owning a wheelchair had been her long-standing dream and pursuit for several years.

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Wasiu Nurudeen (Oba-Aro) praised Hon. Debo Akande as a man of integrity who keeps his promises. He likened him to Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, whom he described as a “talk-and-do” leader known for matching words with action.
Oba-Aro further appreciated Hon. Akande for the compassionate gesture, stressing that life would be much easier for persons with disabilities if more people embraced such acts of kindness and inclusiveness.
He also used the occasion to call on voters to support the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), describing the party as one that prioritizes the welfare and inclusion of Persons With Disabilities. According to him, APM has consistently demonstrated commitment to giving PWDs a voice and a place in governance.
The PWD leader urged electorates to participate actively in future elections and support candidates of the party at all levels. He specifically called for support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition, Hon. Bimbo Adekanbi’s governorship aspiration in Oyo State, and other candidates contesting under the platform of the APM.
Oba-Aro concluded by pledging to mobilize Persons With Disabilities and their family members across the state to support and vote for APM candidates in the forthcoming general elections, expressing confidence that the party would continue to champion policies that promote inclusiveness and social welfare.
