Former House of Representatives member, Hon. Saheed Akinade-Fijabi, on Tuesday visited the scene of the fire outbreak at Bode Market to sympathise with traders and other victims affected by the incident.
During the visit, Fijabi donated N1 million to support those who suffered losses in the inferno.
Speaking, the former lawmaker said the donation was a humanitarian gesture and not politically motivated.
He added that leaving public office had not diminished his commitment to the welfare of the people.

Fijabi, who represent Ibadan North West/South West Federal Constituency expressed sympathy to those who lost their goods and property in the fire and prayed for a quick recovery for the affected traders, urging them to remain hopeful despite the unfortunate incident.
“This is not about politics. It is about supporting our people at a time when they need our help and encouragement,” he said.
“Even though I am no longer in office, it does not stop me from supporting our people whenever the need arises. I will continue to stand by them in difficult times,” he said.
Receiving the former lawmaker, the President of Alagbo Eleweomo, Lekuleja, Oyo State, Mr. Jelili Oladotun, commended Fijabi for the timely intervention, describing the donation as a demonstration of genuine compassion.
“We are deeply grateful to Honourable Saheed Akinade-Fijabi for coming to our aid at this difficult time. This is not the first time he has stood by our people. He has continued to support us over the years, even after leaving public office, and we will forever remain grateful for his kindness,” Oladotun said.
The Iyalaje of Oyo State, Alhaja Sarat Oredola, also expressed appreciation to the former lawmaker for identifying with the victims.
“We sincerely thank Honourable Fijabi for remembering us in our time of need. His visit and financial support have brought hope to many traders who lost their means of livelihood in the fire. We pray that God continues to bless and reward him abundantly,” she said.
She also appealed to other well-meaning Nigerians to support the affected traders.
