The former Aspirant Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency, who doubles as the CEO Baby Blue Angels Foundation, Hon.(Mrs) Ramata Agberemi Dabo (RAD), has empowered about 10 female political groups across Oyo state in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250,000) each.
Speaking during the empowerment on Saturday, Agberemi, who is the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Local Government and Chieftaincy matters, said the gesture was aimed at appreciating the women groups.
She emphasized her commitment to empowering women at the grassroots level and fostering inclusive economic growth in the state.
According to Makinde’s aide, this gesture is a step to appreciate the efforts of women in politics for their unwavering support for Governor Makinde particularly during the 2023 elections.
While appreciating the Female political groups, she said: “We all worked tirelessly together towards the success of our Governor’s vission and mission during campaign. I am privileged, And greatfull to be chosen among so many that we all worked together.
“On behalf of our Governor, the party, this little token is to appreciate all of our women. Thanking them, honoring, appreciating, recognizing them as we are poised to keep doing more group empowerment going forward.
“So, in honor of our Governor and my office as SSA to Governor on local government and Chieftaincy matters working with our Commissioner, Hon. Ademola Ojo, also known as Ijaya, I am presenting this cash empowerment to provide the necessary resources and support to help the women expand their businesses especially during this economic hardship.”
While encouraging the women to also utilise the opportunity, Agberemi called on women to gather enough courage and be their brother’s keeper.
She heaped praise Governor Seyi Makinde for his administration’s commitment to ensuring gender mainstreaming and engendering a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment for women in the state.
In her words: “Since the beginning of his Omituntun 1.0, Governor Makinde has adopted laws and initiated activities that are expressly intended to promote economic empowerment and inclusion for women in Oyo state.
“Women’s inclusivity has been given top attention by the present administration, and as a result, possibilities for women to fully engage in politics, governance, and leadership roles have continued to be established.
“My Governor has remained unwavering in his commitment to helping women in the state realise their aspirations, with the high level of female inclusivity in his cabinet, opportunities for skill development, and entrepreneurship training as crucial components in fostering women’s advancement.”
Agberemi, however, thanked the PDP leaders and stakeholders, elders council, Otunba Seye Famojuro and Double T, commissioner for local Government and Chieftaincy matters, Hon Ijaya, ALGON Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Sanda and Lagelu/Akinyele leaders for enabling women to be involved in politics.
She also sincerely thanked the wife of Governor Makinde, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, the wife of the deputy governor of Oyo, Chief (Mrs.) Ajibola Lawal, the former first lady, Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja, Senator Sumonu Monsurah, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, Alhaja Wulemot Ambassador Ronke Adefowope; team RAD and media, and numerous others for their support of women in politics.
Speaking with our correspondent, one of the beneficiaries, described Hon. Agberemi as a trailblazer, noting that her impact is widely felt by women.
She prayed that God will continue to strengthen her to keep supporting women in politics.
