As Muslims around the world prepare to celebrate the sacred festival of Eid-el-Kabir, Mayegun Sunday Olusegun Babanumi, a Federal House of Representatives hopeful for the Ibadan NorthWest/SouthWest Federal Constituency, has extended heartfelt greetings to Muslim faithful in Oyo State and across Nigeria.

In a goodwill message released on Friday, Mayegun Babanumi reflected on the deep spiritual significance of Eid-el-Kabir, which commemorates the profound story of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail, as a supreme act of obedience to God.
“The story of Ibrahim and Ismail teaches humanity timeless lessons about faith, obedience, trust, and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah. Eid-el-Kabir reminds us that true devotion requires sacrifice, not just of material things, but of pride, ego, and comfort for the sake of righteousness,” he said.

Mayegun Babanumi commended the Muslim community in Ibadan and Oyo State for their resilience and unwavering spiritual commitment, especially in these challenging economic times. He encouraged everyone to mark the festival with moderation, love for others, and renewed commitment to national unity.

“This is a time to reach out, share with those in need, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood across ethnic and religious lines. The values of Eid-el-Kabir are universal, and we must use this opportunity to build peace in our homes and communities,” he added.

The Oyo Reps hopeful also applauded Governor Seyi Makinde’s inclusive leadership and commitment to religious harmony in the state, noting that the governor’s support for all faiths, including provisions made to ease the burdens of the festive season, reflects a government that listens and serves.
Babanumi concluded by praying for peace, progress, and divine favor upon all Muslim families celebrating this year’s Eid.

“I wish all Muslim faithful in Ibadan NorthWest/SouthWest, Oyo State, and across Nigeria a joyful and spiritually fulfilling Sallah. May Allah accept your sacrifices and grant us all lasting peace.
Eid Mubarak!”
