Community leader Hon. Abiodun Adekunle Isola BARUWA has called on residents of Ibadan South West Local Government Area to embrace love and peaceful co-existence as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

In his Sallah message released on Wednesday, BARUWA said the spirit of the festival should go beyond ritual sacrifice to inspire stronger bonds among people of different backgrounds. He urged residents to see one another as partners in building a more stable and prosperous local government.

“Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of sacrifice, obedience, and compassion. My prayer is that this season deepens love among families, strengthens understanding between neighbours, and promotes peaceful co-existence across every ward in Ibadan South West,” BARUWA said.

He noted that sustainable development at the grassroots can only thrive where there is harmony, mutual respect, and cooperation among community leaders, youth groups, market associations, and religious bodies.

BARUWA also encouraged residents to extend acts of kindness to the less privileged during the celebrations and to avoid actions that could disrupt public peace. He prayed for continued peace, security, and progress in Ibadan South West, Oyo State, and Nigeria.

Eid-el-Kabir, known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to obey God’s command. The occasion is marked annually with prayers, animal sacrifice, and communal gatherings across Muslim communities.
