Dr. Kazeem Babatunde Akande, mni, has warmly congratulated Hon. Jamiu Ajibola Akande, representing Ido Constituency in the 3rd Oyo State Youth Parliament, on his emergence as a Youth Parliamentarian and his subsequent appointment as Chairman, House Committee on Anti-Corruption and Good Governance.
Dr. Akande described the dual responsibility as a great honour, a call to service and a significant opportunity to demonstrate the values of integrity, accountability, transparency and responsible leadership.
He particularly commended the decision to entrust Hon. Jamiu Ajibola Akande with the sensitive responsibility of chairing the House Committee on Anti-Corruption and Good Governance, noting that the position places him at the centre of promoting ethical leadership and accountability among the emerging generation of leaders.
“I warmly congratulate Hon. Jamiu Ajibola Akande on this remarkable achievement. Your representation of Ido Constituency and your appointment as Chairman of the House Committee on Anti-Corruption and Good Governance come with enormous responsibility. I urge you to discharge this mandate with integrity, courage, fairness and an unwavering commitment to the public good.”
Dr. Akande noted that the fight against corruption must begin with the development of a strong culture of honesty, transparency, accountability and respect for public resources, particularly among young people who will constitute the next generation of leaders.
He encouraged Hon. Jamiu Ajibola Akande to use his committee responsibility as a platform to promote anti-corruption awareness, ethical conduct, transparency in leadership, accountability, whistle-blowing awareness, civic responsibility and good governance among young people in Ido and across Oyo State.
According to him, the Youth Parliament should not merely be regarded as a simulation of legislative proceedings, but as a leadership development platform capable of producing responsible, competent and ethically grounded future leaders.
Dr. Akande further urged Hon. Jamiu Ajibola Akande to maintain strong engagement with the youth of Ido Local Government Area and ensure that their concerns on education, employment, entrepreneurship, skills development, digital innovation, sports, security, peacebuilding and social development receive appropriate attention.
“As you chair the Anti-Corruption and Good Governance Committee, let your leadership be guided by the principle that public office is a trust, not a privilege. Represent Ido with dignity, serve with humility and let integrity remain your strongest credential.”
He also called on the good people and youth of Ido Local Government Area to support the young parliamentarian with constructive advice, encouragement and meaningful engagement as he undertakes his legislative responsibilities.
Dr. Akande expressed confidence that Hon. Jamiu Ajibola Akande would distinguish himself through responsible representation, legislative excellence, integrity and commitment to youth-centred development.
He prayed for divine wisdom, knowledge, courage and strength for him as he carries out his responsibilities, while assuring him of his goodwill and encouragement.
“Your journey is not only about representing Ido; it is about preparing yourself to become a responsible leader for Oyo State and Nigeria. May your tenure inspire other young people to embrace integrity, service and purposeful leadership.”
