Dr. Akande Kazeem Babatunde Congratulates the New Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade

Dr. Akande Kazeem Babatunde, Chairman of the Governing Council; African Institute for Justices of the Peace (AIJP), President; Ecolerite Institute for Peace Advancement, Pioneer Peace Chair for Rotary District 9126, Grand Patron Agbekoya Farmers Association/Agbekoya Elite Platinum, President General Alliance of Yoruba Youth Council Worlwide (AYYCW),has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly installed Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade.

In a statement issued on Monday, Dr. Akande described the ascension of Oba Owoade as a significant milestone for the Oyo Kingdom. He lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for presenting the staff of office to the new monarch, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the rich history of Oyo’s traditional leadership.

Dr. Akande highlighted Oba Owoade’s impressive credentials, which include his professional achievements in Canada as a Project Coordinator at Manitoba Hydro and his philanthropic endeavors within the Yoruba diaspora. He expressed confidence that the monarch’s global experience, educational background, and visionary leadership would contribute immensely to the development of Oyo and the preservation of Yoruba culture.

The new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, succeeds the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who passed away on April 22, 2022, leaving the throne vacant for nearly three years. Oba Owoade’s enthronement signifies the continuation of Oyo’s legacy of excellence and resilience in traditional governance.
