In a deeply inspiring show of responsive governance and community solidarity, Hon. Dr. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, Member representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 at the Oyo State House of Assembly, marked part of her second anniversary in office on Monday, June 30, 2025, with an event that embodied the true spirit of people-focused leadership.

Under the banner of the now-familiar and beloved slogan, “Comforter De, Olutunu De,” the event was more than a commemoration; it was a declaration of empathy, shared purpose, and active support for those in need.
SUPPORTING FIRE VICTIMS WITH ACTION, NOT JUST WORDS

At the center of the anniversary program was the provision of direct financial relief to victims of two tragic fire outbreaks that rocked the constituency in early 2025:

On January 7, a fire devastated Adabale House in Yemetu, Ibadan, displacing the landlord’s family and seven tenant families.

On May 10, a second fire erupted in the early morning hours at the POWA (Police Officers’ Wives Association) Shopping Complex, destroying shops and livelihoods.
Hon. Dr. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, in her trademark compassionate leadership, presented:

₦1,000,000 to the Adabale Community with the breakdown thus:
* ₦300,000 to the Adabale landlord/family
* ₦700,000 total to seven tenants (₦100,000 each)
₦1.5 million to 15 shop owners at POWA Complex (₦100,000 each)
This amounted to ₦2.5 million in personal intervention from Hon. Comforter; a move lauded as timely, heartfelt, and transformational.
In a powerful show of solidarity, other key figures at the event joined the lawmaker in supporting the cause:
Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government (represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Hamdy Mustapha), contributed ₦500,000 to support Adabale House, with a promise of further outreach to other affected individuals (POWA).
Hon. Fola Oyekunle, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, donated an additional ₦700,000, allocating ₦200,000 to the POWA victims and ₦500,000 specifically to the Adabale community.
The atmosphere was charged with emotion as beneficiaries offered their heartfelt appreciation.
One of the tenants from Adabale House, said: “This is more than money; this is dignity restored. Hon. Comforter didn’t wait for the cameras; she came when we needed her most. In two years, she has shown what it truly means to be a servant of the people.”
From POWA, an affected shop owner, added: “This support helps me start again. Hon. Comforter is the kind of leader every community prays for, she listens, she shows up, and she acts. May her light never dim.”
