It was a historic and colourful moment as the Member representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, was conferred with the Akoni Oodua Heroines Award 2025 by the prestigious Akoni Oodua Heritage Leadership International Platform, under the leadership of His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), CFR.

A true definition of a round peg in a round hole, the honour comes as no surprise to many who have closely followed the impactful political and social journey of Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Adeniyi-Olajide.
Her outstanding contributions in the Oyo State Legislature, her consistent advocacy for women, children, and youths, and her passion for the preservation and promotion of Yoruba culture and traditions stand tall as worthy testaments.

The event, graced by eminent personalities cutting across traditional institutions, politics, business, security agencies, and civil service, was one filled with glamour, recognition, and celebration of excellence.


Speaking through her representatives, the Apex Team led by her Director of Strategy, Amb. Dr. Kunle Awotiku, and Director of Socials, Hon. Adeoye the lawmaker expressed profound appreciation for the honour bestowed upon her.
In addition, she extended
a generous financial contribution to support the advancement of the Akoni Oodua Heritage Leadership International Platform, while assuring continuous partnership and support for its laudable initiatives.
The programme also featured an insightful lecture delivered by Dr. Adeola Falaye of the Department of Linguistics and African Languages, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. The lecture, titled “The Roles of Women in National Development: The Yoruba Perspective”, emphasized the indispensable roles of women in driving societal growth and nation-building.

The Akoni Oodua Heroines Award is a remarkable recognition that celebrates women of distinction whose works, values, and contributions positively impact the Yoruba race and humanity at large.
By receiving this honour, Hon. Chief (Mrs.) Adeniyi-Olajide not only joins the league of eminent heroines but also becomes an inspiration for women across the country to aspire, excel, and make a difference.
