*CCII Honours Ibadan North-East Chairman, Hon. Akintayo, with Cultural Heritage Award* *…recognised for preserving Ibadan’s heritage*

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has conferred the “Icon of Ibadan Cultural Heritage Award” on the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo popularly called ( O mu Yes)

The event, which formed part of activities marking the grand finale of the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival, was held at the Ibadan North-East Local Government Multipurpose Hall, where dignitaries from across Ibadanland gathered to honour the Local Government Chairman.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chairman of the Ibadan Cultural Festival 2026, Mrs. Monsurat Oyebola, commended Hon. Akintayo for his remarkable contributions to the growth and development of the ancient city. She noted that his dedication to service and cultural advancement earned him the recognition bestowed by the CCII.

In his acceptance speech, Hon Akintayo expressed gratitude to God for the strength to serve and impact his community positively. He also appreciated the CCII for the honour, reaffirming his commitment to sustaining developmental initiatives and promoting the cultural heritage of Ibadan.

Dignitaries present at the event included political leaders, the Head of Local Government Administration, Ibadan North-East Local Government, Mrs. Omolara Aremu; the Acting Head of Local Government Administration, Ibadan East LCDA, Mr. Hakeem Ogunyẹjọ; Heads of Departments, staff members, and well-wishers, all of whom gathered to celebrate the Chairman’s contributions to preserving the rich cultural identity of Ibadan.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of a comprehensive citation of the awardee, detailing his life journey and notable achievements, particularly his commendable performance since assuming office as the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government.
