As the 2025 elections approach, the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency are eager to find a leader who truly represents their interests. With his impressive track record of public service and commitment to the welfare of his constituents, Hon. Waheed Akanbi (Biiro) is emerging as a top contender for the PDP ticket. But what drives this grassroots leader, and what’s his vision for the future of Ibadan North? In this exclusive interview with Eagle’s Sight News, Biiro opens up about his candidacy, his priorities, and his promise to the people.

_What inspired you to contest for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat, and what makes you the best candidate for the position?_

I’m driven by my passion to serve the people and make a positive impact on my community. My experience as a former Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government has equipped me with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively represent my constituents at the federal level.

My track record of performance speaks for itself, and I’m confident that I have the expertise and commitment required to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

_Can you highlight some of your notable achievements during your tenure as Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government?_

During my time as Chairman, I prioritized infrastructure development, security, education, youth, and women empowerment. I ensured that palliatives reached the targeted people at the grassroots, without tribalism, nepotism, or religious differences. I also successfully completed various projects, including the construction of complexes for the local government, provision of essential security equipment, and donation of a security vehicle and construction of a security office to vigilantes and other security agencies. I follow the footsteps of my leader, the governor of Oyo, Engineer Seyi Makinde, so I prioritize security, agriculture, health, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment among others.

_How do you plan to address the specific needs and challenges of the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency?_

I plan to engage with my constituents through town hall meetings, public forums, and other interactive platforms to understand their specific needs and concerns. I’ll work tirelessly to attract federal projects and investments to our constituency, focusing on areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment. My goal is to ensure that every citizen of Ibadan North Federal Constituency has access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

_What sets you apart from other candidates vying for the same position, and why should the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency vote for you?_

My unique blend of experience, expertise, and passion for public service sets me apart from other candidates. As a former Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, I have a deep understanding of the needs and challenges of our constituency. My commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance has earned me the trust and respect of my constituents.Fortunately, I am only the candidate among the vying candidates for this seat that has the opportunity to attend leadership seminar at the prestigious Nigeria Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, courtesy of our amiable Governor, Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde. I’m confident that my vision, leadership, and dedication to the welfare of our people make me the best candidate for the position.

_How do you plan to engage with your constituents and ensure that their voices are heard in Abuja?_

I plan to establish a robust feedback mechanism, including regular town hall meetings, public forums, and social media platforms, to ensure that my constituents’ voices are heard and their concerns addressed. I’ll also maintain an open-door policy, allowing citizens to visit my office or contact me directly to discuss their issues. My goal is to be a responsive and accountable representative, always putting the needs and interests of my constituents first.

_What message do you have for the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency as the primary election approaches?_

I urge all eligible voters to come out and exercise their civic duty by voting for me in the primary election. I’m committed to delivering the dividends of democracy to our constituency, and I’m confident that together, we can achieve great things. Let’s work together to build a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and generations to come.

_How can the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency support your candidacy and contribute to your campaign?_

I appreciate the support of my constituents, and there are several ways they can contribute to my campaign. They can volunteer their time, skills, and resources to help spread the word about my candidacy. They can also make financial contributions to support my campaign efforts. Most importantly, I urge them to come out and vote for me in the primary election. Together, we can make a difference and bring positive change to our constituency.

_What’s your final message to the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency, and what do you hope to achieve if elected as their representative in Abuja?_
