A chieftain of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, in Oyo State and community leader, Honourable Abiodun Adekunle Isola Baruwa, has congratulated Honourable Abimbola Adekanmbi on his emergence as the gubernatorial consensus candidate of the party, describing the choice as a bold step toward continuity and development in the state.
In a statement released to journalists in Ibadan on Wednesday, Baruwa said the consensus arrangement reflects the maturity and unity within APM and positions the party to play a more strategic role in shaping the future of Oyo State. He noted that Adekanmbi’s track record in public service, private sector experience and understanding of governance makes him a credible voice for the Omituntun agenda.
“I congratulate my brother and leader, Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi, on his emergence as the consensus gubernatorial candidate of our great party, the Allied Peoples Movement,” Baruwa stated. “This is a recognition of his capacity, commitment and vision for a better Oyo. At a time when our state needs experienced hands and fresh ideas, Hon. Adekanmbi represents both stability and innovation.”
The APM chieftain urged members of the party across the 33 local government areas to close ranks and work diligently to mobilize voters ahead of the next election. He emphasized that political consensus must now translate into grassroots action if the party is to make a meaningful impact at the polls. According to him, the strength of any political movement lies in the commitment of its members at the ward and polling unit levels.

Baruwa also called on residents of Oyo State to support the Omituntun 3.0 vision, which he described as the next phase of Governor Seyi Makinde’s development blueprint. He said the focus of Omituntun 3.0 on infrastructure expansion, economic growth, healthcare improvement and youth empowerment aligns with the aspirations of the people. “Omituntun 3.0 is not just a slogan. It is a roadmap for sustaining the gains of the last seven years and taking Oyo to the next level,” he said.
He further appealed to traditional rulers, market leaders, artisans, students and women groups to key into the vision by participating actively in voter education and mobilization. Baruwa stressed that democracy thrives when citizens take ownership of the process and choose leaders based on competence and antecedents. “Our people must understand that their vote is their power. We must use it wisely to elect leaders who will protect our collective interest,” he added.
While wishing Adekanmbi success in the task ahead, Baruwa prayed for peace, unity and progress across Oyo State. He expressed confidence that with unity of purpose within APM and support from the electorate, the party will contribute meaningfully to the continued development of the state. “May God grant our candidate wisdom and strength for the journey ahead. Together, we will build the Oyo of our dreams,” Baruwa concluded.
