The Chairman of AANFE, Ayo Olopoenia (Oke-Ogun), has remembered his beloved grandfather, Alhaji (Chief) Shittu Akanbi Gbenusola Olopoenia, who passed away on 25 August 2009.
Today, 25 August 2026, marks the 17th anniversary of his passing.
Ayo Olopoenia fondly remembered his grandfather as a man whose life, values, wisdom and contributions left an enduring legacy in the family and community.
Seventeen years after his transition, his memory remains alive in the hearts of those he left behind. His teachings, sacrifices and exemplary life continue to serve as a source of inspiration to his children, grandchildren and the wider family.
As the family marks this solemn remembrance, Ayo Olopoenia prayed for the continued repose of his grandfather’s soul and for Almighty God to grant him eternal rest.
“Seventeen years may have passed, but your memories and legacy remain evergreen. You will forever live in our hearts. May Almighty Allah grant you Al-Jannatul Firdaus. Amin.”
