Arafat Clinches SDP Ticket for Ibadan North-East State Constituency II

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has concluded its primary election for the Oyo State House of Assembly seat representing Ibadan North-East State Constituency II, with Hon. Adedeji Arafat Abiodun emerging as the party’s candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The primary election was held at Methodist Primary School, Agodi Gate, Ibadan, under a peaceful and transparent atmosphere witnessed by party faithfuls, stakeholders, and electoral observers.

At the end of the exercise, Hon. Adedeji Arafat Abiodun secured victory through the direct primary process conducted by the party leadership in the local government area with a total of 347.

Speaking after the exercise, the Chairman of SDP in Ibadan North-East Local Government, Murayo Mojeed, commended party members for their orderly conduct and commitment to democratic values throughout the primary election.

Also speaking, the Secretary of SDP in Ibadan North-East Local Government, Taiwo Olaitan, described the exercise as credible and peaceful, noting that the party remains united and prepared for future electoral victories in Oyo State.

Party chieftain, Toafeek Arefin, stated that the primary election was conducted peacefully without any form of rancour, adding that members demonstrated maturity and unity during the process.

In her remarks, Feranmi Oyedotun commended the courage and determination of Hon. Adedeji Arafat Abiodun, describing her emergence as a source of inspiration for women seeking political leadership positions.

Another party faithful, Taiwo Apata, expressed optimism about the chances of the SDP in future elections, declaring that “it is SDP’s time to rule Oyo State and Nigeria.”

The exercise was also witnessed by Temitayo Oyedokun alongside several party supporters and community stakeholders.

In her acceptance remarks, Hon. Adedeji Arafat Abiodun appreciated party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in her candidature.

She pledged to remain committed to grassroots development, quality representation, youth empowerment, and inclusive governance if elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly.

Hon. Arafat further called on members of the party to remain united and work collectively toward ensuring victory for the SDP in the forthcoming elections.
