*APM Unveils Adeleke, Babarinde, Ten Councillorship Candidates for 2026 LG Polls*

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ibarapa Central Local Government has unveiled its candidates for the forthcoming 2026 Local Government Elections in Oyo State, following the successful conduct of its primary election on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Hon. Sola Adeleke Ayodele emerged as the party’s Chairmanship Candidate while Hon. Rasheed Babarinde emerged as the Vice-Chairmanship Candidate. The party also elected its councillorship candidates across the ten wards of the local government.

The primary election commenced at exactly 10:00 a.m. at the premises of Ibarapa Central Local Government and was conducted under the supervision of the APM Chairman in the local government, Hon. Gbade Akinlolu.

In his opening remarks, Hon. Akinlolu explained that the exercise was organised to democratically select the party’s candidates for the chairmanship, vice-chairmanship, and councillorship positions ahead of the forthcoming local government elections.

He urged party members to maintain peace, unity, discipline and commitment to the growth of the party, stressing the need for collective efforts as the APM prepares for the elections.

The exercise commenced with the councillorship primary across the ten wards. Party members participated by queuing behind their preferred candidates before the process proceeded to the chairmanship and vice-chairmanship selections.

At the conclusion of the exercise, Hon. Sola Adeleke Ayodele emerged as the party’s Chairmanship Candidate while Hon. Rasheed Babarinde was chosen as his running mate for the vice-chairmanship position.

The councillorship candidates who emerged from the ten wards are:

– Ward 1: Awujola Saheed Olayemi

– Ward 2: Adedeji Ramoni

– Ward 3: Gbemileke Michael

– Ward 4: Azeez Adewale Sakiru

– Ward 5: Oyerinde Sanjo

– Ward 6: Adeyemo Adewale Adeseun

– Ward 7: Adepoju Adeniran

– Ward 8: Yakubu Salami

– Ward 9: Olaolu Olarenwaju

– Ward 10: Yusuf Olarenwaju

Speaking after the exercise, Hon. Gbade Akinlolu commended party members for their discipline, maturity, and peaceful conduct throughout the primary.

He equally appreciated Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Nigeria Police Force, Amotekun Corps, Department of State Services (DSS), and members of the media for their support and contributions towards ensuring a peaceful, free, fair and credible primary election.

Hon. Akinlolu expressed confidence that the emergence of Hon. Sola Adeleke Ayodele, Hon. Rasheed Babarinde, and the ten councillorship candidates would further strengthen the party and enhance its chances of victory in the forthcoming local government elections.

Also speaking, Hon. Rasheed Okunlola congratulated the newly elected candidates and charged them to be good ambassadors of their respective wards. He urged them to work diligently towards securing victory for the party and appealed to other party members and stakeholders to cooperate with and support the candidates.

Addressing the gathering on behalf of the State Executive Committee, Chief Oladokun congratulated the successful candidates and called on party members to remain united and committed to the collective success of the APM.

Similarly, Hon. Sola Fakorede addressed the gathering, encouraging the candidates and other party members to sustain the spirit of unity, cooperation, and dedication demonstrated during the primary.

In his remarks, Hon. Olusola Adeleke expressed appreciation to the party leaders and members who turned out in large numbers to participate in and support the exercise.

He thanked the party leadership and members for their confidence and support, while calling for continued unity and collective commitment as the APM moves towards the 2026 Local Government Elections.

The peaceful conclusion of the primary marks a significant step in the APM’s preparations for the forthcoming elections, with the party now set to commence broader mobilisation across the ten wards of Ibarapa Central in pursuit of victory at the polls.
