Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has mourned the passing of the Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Yekini Ayoade Adeojo.

The passing of Alhaji Adeojo, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was announced on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Commiserating with the deceased’s family, Hon. Adepoju described the late Adeojo as an astute politician who traversed the political arena with integrity, probity and fear of God.

The lawmaker, who also joined well-meaning Nigerians at the burial of the late politician, expressed that the Peoples Democratic Party had just lost one of its founding members whose political counsel never failed.

According to Hon. Adepoju, the candidature of the late Ido-born Seriki of Yoruba land as the Oyo State flag bearer of the PDP in 1999 shaped the political party at the twilight of the current fourth republic up until today.

“It is a sad day for everyone, especially those of us who are Baba Adeojo’s political godsons. The impact of Alhaji Yekini on those in religious and political communities was immeasurable; he was one of the influential founding members of our great party and did everything possible to ensure its stability in Oyo State, South West and Nigeria as a whole.
“The late Adeojo was not only a political doyen par excellence but also a patriot to the core who, before venturing into mainstream politics, had an impressive record defending the sovereignty of this nation in the Nigerian Army.
“I am consoled by the fact that Baba left an indelible mark in the sand of time as well as incredibly amazing children he left behind,” Hon. Adepoju said.
The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character, however, extended his heartfelt commiseration to the late Adeojo’s family, praying to God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
