The lawmaker representing Ibadan South East/North East federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has commended Oyo State Governor for approving 80,000 as minimum wage for workers in the state.

Agboworin, who is the Chairman of House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, noted that the approval was a welcome development, saying that the governor has once again proven to the world that he is a worker-friendly governor.

The two-term lawmaker, who gave this indication in a press statement signed by his Media Group, noted that it will significantly boost the morale and standard of living of civil servants in the Oyo state.

Agboworin equally noted that the approval demonstrates Governor Makinde’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers and promoting economic growth in the State.

While saying that he is happy for the workers of the state, Agboworin maintained that the minimum wage increase would have a positive impact on the state’s economy, adding that “workers will have more disposable income to spend on goods and services.

“This, in turn, will stimulate economic activity and create jobs.”

“Also, the increased wage will help reduce poverty and inequality among civil servants, ensuring that they can provide for their families,” Agboworin added.

According to the lawmaker, Governor Makinde’s decision highlights the importance of effective governance and leadership.

“The governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare is a testament to his administration’s focus on people-centered policies.

“By prioritizing the needs of workers, Governor Makinde is fostering a positive work environment and encouraging productivity,” He stated.
