The member representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has strongly condemned the recent attack on a school community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the incident as barbaric, heartbreaking and unacceptable.

Agboworin, in a statement made available to journalists by his Media Group, on Tuesday, expressed deep concern over the abduction of teachers and other victims during the attack, noting that such acts of violence against innocent citizens, particularly within the education sector, pose a grave threat to peace, learning and community development.
The federal lawmaker sympathised with the affected families, the people of Oriire Local Government and the government of Oyo State over the unfortunate development, while praying for the safe return of all victims still in captivity.

According to him, attacks on schools and educational personnel must never be allowed to become normal in any part of the country.

“I condemn in strong terms the heinous attack carried out against innocent teachers, students and security personnel in Oriire Local Government. It is painful that teachers and members of the school community, who dedicate their lives to shaping the future of our children, became targets of criminal elements,” Agboworin said.

He further commended Governor Seyi Makinde for what he described as the swift response and proactive steps taken by the state government and security agencies

following the incident.
Agboworin particularly praised the governor’s commitment towards ensuring the safe rescue of the abducted victims and restoring confidence among residents of the affected communities.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has once again demonstrated responsive leadership by immediately mobilising security architecture and intensifying efforts aimed at rescuing the abducted victims.
He added that the Governor’s determination and firm stance on security issues continue to reassure the people of Oyo State that their safety remains a top priority,” he added.
The lawmaker also applauded security operatives and local vigilante groups involved in ongoing rescue operations, urging them not to relent until every victim regains freedom.

He, however, called for stronger collaboration between communities and security agencies, stressing that timely intelligence sharing remains crucial in tackling insecurity and criminal activities across rural areas.
