[8/23, 2:21 PM] Shopzy Pdp: Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has combined international engagements with domestic political outreach, signing major energy agreements abroad while appealing for unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.

At the recently concluded Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Japan, Adelabu accompanied President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in finalising multi-million-dollar power agreements with Japanese firms Toshiba and Hitachi.
The deals are expected to expand Nigeria’s electricity grid, introduce new substations to boost supply, and implement renewable energy projects aimed at improving access across communities.

Speaking on the development, Adelabu said the ultimate goal of such partnerships is to make a direct difference in people’s lives. “These achievements mean little if our people do not feel a personal connection with us,”* he remarked.

In a separate message directed at party members in Oyo State, Adelabu acknowledged concerns within the APC following the last elections.
He admitted that some members may have felt sidelined and took responsibility as a leader, for the gaps in engagement. He called for renewed unity and stronger grassroots connections to strengthen the party ahead of future contests.
“Leadership is not just about achievements, but about carrying everyone along,” he stated.

In a related development, the Adelabu in Diaspora group, under the coordination of Mr. Bushie Ferrari and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) based in United Kingdom, Mr. Bayo Animashaun has reaffirmed its support for the Minister in his national engagements and ongoing efforts to foster unity within the APC in Oyo State.
In a message directed to members of Oyo APC, the group called for patience, stressing that Chief Adelabu is committed to restoring peace and cohesion to the party in the state.
The statement noted that the APC in Oyo State has a long-standing positive history, with the people of the state still firmly believing in the party’s ideology and the quality of leaders it has produced over the years. However, it emphasized that resilience and collective commitment from leaders are essential to reposition the party for success.
The group further assured that Chief Adebayo Adelabu is ready to work hand-in-hand with party leaders across all levels to return Oyo APC to its winning ways ahead of the 2027 general elections.
