Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi has engaged top-ranking officials of the Oyo State Civil Service, outlining his vision for a more efficient, innovative and welfare-driven public service anchored on capacity development, staff welfare, merit and improved service delivery.

Adekanmbi made this known on Monday, October 19, 2026, during a strategic engagement with directors, general managers, permanent secretaries and other senior civil servants at the Local Government Service Commission Teaching Hall, Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

At the meeting, he highlighted the need to strengthen the capacity of public servants, improve working conditions, promote innovation in public administration and institutionalise merit-based assessments across all levels of the civil service.

The engagement also provided an opportunity for participants to identify critical challenges affecting staff productivity and the effective delivery of government services.

Among the issues raised were the restoration of transport welfare through Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS)-powered buses, increased access to international training opportunities, and the provision of official vehicles to facilitate the operations of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), particularly those in remote and zonal locations.

The participants also called for improved mobility for general managers and officials of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), as well as the establishment of a recreational centre within the government secretariat to encourage sporting activities, relaxation and improved staff well-being.

Some directors at the meeting recalled Adekanmbi’s previous engagements with the civil service during his tenure as Deputy Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Finance, highlighting his recognition of hard work, appreciation of merit and contributions to the professional development of officers who worked with him.

Reaffirming his commitment to an effective and people-centred public service, Adekanmbi stressed the importance of maintaining regular communication with civil servants to obtain feedback, identify operational bottlenecks and develop practical solutions to challenges affecting government performance.

He noted that sustained engagement with the workforce would remain a key priority, recognising that a motivated, adequately equipped and professionally developed civil service is essential to effective governance and accelerated development in Oyo State.

The engagement underscored the importance of collaboration between leadership and public servants in building a responsive and productive administrative system capable of translating government policies into tangible benefits for residents of the state.
