PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen Participates in Interview with APC counterpart, The Transcript of Kamoru’s Remarks from the Interview
Lagelu Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen sat down with Fresh_FM’s Mayor Isaac Brown, alongside with his counterpart in the progressive congress, Olawale Belo— ahead of the April 27th chairmanship election. He spoke about his leadership experience, and addressed key issues put forward to him during the interview.
In the interview that aired on Sunday, the Chairmanship candidate shared his lofty plans and programs for Lagelu local government area.
When asked about his motivation for entering the chairmanship race in his local government, Kamoru averted he has extensively studied the trend of governance from different administrations in Lagelu local government, especially on the significance of people’s relevant inputs, and its impact on governance delivery. He remarked his administration, if elected, will give priority to a more closer and constant engagement with local community organizers and stakeholders, for the optimum result of whatever plans and programs he’s coming in with. “I look forward to a local government administration where the people can be at the center stage of governance… This will not only help build confidence in our government, it will help in the enhancement of our local democracy”, he said.
Responding to questions on his plans for the youth of Lagelu, Kamoru submitted that his administration will be much committed to the full mobilization of youth in Lagelu, for local and global opportunities.
“Lagelu as we know it boasts of enough of youth population. These young men and women represents unlimited potentials for economic and human development, and for leadership. This youth population with all the potentials that it represents, if not properly engaged and given the needed attention and opportunities to thrive, can lead to a whole lot of social pressures and challenges that maybe attendant upon the rise in youth discontent with government. Against this backdrop, our administration will be committed to the full mobilization of youth in Lagelu, for local and global opportunities in academics, skills-set training, sports, health, agriculture, and community service”, he said
“Well considered is our resolve to create pathways for the new generation of leaders to gain greater access to policymaking, and develop the leadership potentials in them. These new generation of leaders who are begining to take the baton of leadership, are our hope— it’s the same generation that produced me, and it’s in our best interest to have as many of them in their prime ages- involved in the business of government in our Lagelu”, he continued.
The Chairmanship candidate who was further asked about his plans for women and aged persons in Lagelu— said he has considered a social policy that will be directed towards improving maternal care service in the local government area.
His submission;
“With enough of primary care centers made available to Lagelu- by His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, we look forward to improving maternal care service through our safe child’s birth and delivery programme which includes community engagement with health practitioners, local health system’s strengthening, and the local facilities’ user fee removal for the poor and most vulnerable expectant mothers in Lagelu local government area”.
Going further in his response, he remarked part of his policy objectives is an initiative that aims to ensure a stable old age and maintain the health and physical function of the elderlies.. “The initiative which will be partly supported by non-governmental and non-profit organizations— aims to promote quality of life, manage aged persons’ illness, and enhance their life expectancy”, he submitted.
Amidst the wide-ranging interview was the question about the Chairmanship candidate’s plan on Agricultural development, with the local government being an agrarian space. Reacting to the lead question, Mr. Kamoru said he’s hoping to take a leverage on agriculture to boost the local government’s revenue base.
His remarks;
“With an expanse of arable lands, Lagelu is one big potential for agriculture. In fact, according to laws of comparative advantage, we can enjoy a competitive edge in the agricultural sector. Our plans are to bring in people of proven interest in agriculture, and have our farmers supported by government in any way possible. We’re also looking into how Lagelu can tap from the state government’s huge investment in agriculture. Our potentials in agriculture are boosted by these expanse of arable lands suited for all kinds of farming and agricultural businesses— these potentials for agriculture are also supported by a Lagelu owned huge garri manufacturing factory that will go fully operational during our administration”, he concluded.
When asked on the reason why he think he deserves the people of Lagelu’s support over and above his counterpart in the progressive congress— the PDP chairmanship candidate, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen said hope the old days of Apc’s party corruption at the Executive Office in Lagelu is over, and that it’s never to be expected that the progressives will get the chance of victory in the local elections. Speaking further, he remarked that the people of Lagelu has a partner as no other in him.
