Ona-Ara LG Opens Engr. Seyi Makinde Marriage Registry, Multi-Purpose Hall for Public Use in November

The newly constructed Engr. Seyi Makinde Marriage Registry and Multi-Purpose Hall in Ona-Ara Local Government, Ibadan, is set to be available for public use from November 2026, providing residents with a dedicated venue for marriage ceremonies, social events, meetings and other important programmes.

The facility, constructed under the administration of the Executive Chairman of Ona-Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo Glorious, is located opposite Bitemore, along Olorunsogo, Akanran Road, Ibadan.

The project represents an addition to the local government’s public infrastructure, with the potential to generate revenue through facility bookings and contribute to the council’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Named in honour of the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Abiodun Makinde, the facility recognises the governor’s contributions to the development of Oyo State and Ona-Ara Local Government. The naming also gives the governor a lasting place in the council’s public infrastructure.

Beyond its significance as a public infrastructure project, the facility is expected to provide individuals, families, organisations and event planners with a convenient venue for their various activities without necessarily having to seek facilities outside their immediate community.

The hall will be available for marriage registry services and ceremonies, social gatherings, meetings and organised programmes at affordable and reasonable rates, offering residents an additional option for hosting their important occasions.

The initiative underscores the importance of public infrastructure that addresses the everyday needs of residents while creating opportunities for community engagement and improved service delivery. It also positions the local government to make its facilities more accessible to residents of Ona-Ara and neighbouring communities.
