L.G Polls: Oyo PDP Presents Flags to Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship Candidates in Oyo, Refutes Rigging Claims – Describes Opposition as Defeatists
The Oyo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in a colourful gathering at the Dubar Stadium in Oyo townofficially presented the party’s flags to the chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates vying for positions across the Oyo federal constituency. The ceremony served as a dual purpose, marking the commencement of the party’s campaign activities in the constituency.
The distinguished candidates who received the party’s flags include:
– Hon. Oluokun Sola Peters and Hon. Mustapha Wasiu – Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates for Oyo East Local Government
– Hon. Olukitibi Abdul-Akeem and Hon. Alade Nureni – Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates for Oyo West Local Government
– Hon. Emmanuel Olufemi Aikomo and Hon. Tajudeen Adegoke – Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates for Afijio Local Government
– Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji (WABKEM) and Hon. Ismail Badmus – Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates for Atiba Local Government
Addressing the attendees, the Secretary of the party vehemently refuted allegations made by opposition parties regarding the PDP’s commitment to a fair electoral process. He emphasized the party’s dedication to engaging in transparent campaigning and consulting with relevant stakeholders, dismissing claims of electoral malpractice. He highlighted the opposition’s premature concerns about defeat, portraying the PDP’s readiness for a democratic contest.
Chief Ogunlade, in his impassioned speech, urged party members across the federal constituency to safeguard their voter cards diligently, recognizing them as indispensable tools for securing victory in the upcoming polls. He underscored the importance of active participation and unity within the party as key elements for success in the electoral arena.
Senator Monsura Sunmonu, a distinguished member of the Governor’s advisory council and a revered leader within the PDP in the Oyo federal constituency, commended the robust turnout of party faithfuls at the campaign venue. She encouraged continued efforts to propagate the ideals and principles of the PDP at the grassroots level, emphasizing the significance of grassroots engagement in achieving electoral triumph.
