DCP Gbolahan Oyedemi, a one-time Aide de Camp to the late former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, during the latter’s 11-month tenure as the de facto governor in 2006 reportedly to have taken his own life.
Oyedemi until his death was a Deputy Commissioner of Police, assigned to the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Alagbon, Lagos State,
He reportedly took his own life on Monday at his residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, his hometown.
According to reports, Oyedemi previously served as the Aide de Camp to the late former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, during the latter’s 11-month tenure as the de facto governor in 2006.
Speaking to newsmen in Ibadan, a source close to the family, revealed that Oyedemi, who customarily returned to his hometown for Easter celebrations, had instructed his aides over the weekend to take leave and celebrate with their own families.
Confirming the incident, the source stated, “Yes, he took his own life. His body was discovered hanging in his residence yesterday (Monday). He lived alone, and it was his routine to visit home during Easter.”
“This time, he told his aides to go and celebrate with their family members in their various homes. Only God knows what could have prompted him to commit suicide.”
