Ohanaeze Ndigbo Oyo Declares Support for Adekanmbi’s 2027 Governorship Bid

The Oyo State Chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has declared its support for the governorship ambition of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Hon. Abimbola “Bimbo” Adekanmbi, ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.

The declaration was made during a gathering of members and stakeholders of the Igbo community in Oyo State, where participants also emphasised the importance of unity, peaceful coexistence, political participation and inclusion in the affairs of the state.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akinsola Akintayo, called for continued support for the political direction of the APM. He also urged the gathering to support the presidential aspiration of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, as well as the governorship candidacy of Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi and other candidates of the party.

The engagement underscored the significant contribution of the Igbo community to the social and economic development of Oyo State, while highlighting the importance of ensuring that every community and resident has a voice and a sense of belonging in the state’s political process.

Addressing the gathering, Adekanmbi assured members of the Igbo community that, if given the mandate, his administration would pursue an inclusive governance model that accommodates residents and communities irrespective of their ethnic or social backgrounds.

He stressed the importance of unity, cooperation and equal participation in building a prosperous and peaceful Oyo State.

Adekanmbi emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the APM in May 2026 and has since continued engagements with communities, professional groups and other stakeholders across the state, with inclusive governance, continuity and broad-based development featuring prominently in his engagements.

The event further reinforced the longstanding relationship between the Igbo community and the people of Oyo State, with participants reiterating the need for peaceful coexistence, political inclusion and collective efforts towards the development of the state.
