Ibarapa Central/North APM Stakeholders Unite, Vow to Deliver Constituency for All APM Candidates in 2027

Stakeholders of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency of Oyo State have resolved to put aside their differences and work collectively towards securing victory for all the party’s candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The resolution was reached at a reconciliation meeting called by the Oyo State Honorable Commisioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Chief Obafemi Ojo. The meeting was held at the Oyo State Secretariat on Friday, September 18, 2026, where party leaders and stakeholders from the two local government areas openly addressed grievances and differences that had created divisions among various political camps.

The meeting, which lasted for about five hours, provided an opportunity for the stakeholders to deliberate extensively on the challenges confronting the party and chart a common course ahead of the 2027 elections. At the end of the meeting, the leaders expressed their readiness to close ranks and work together for the success of the APM across the federal constituency.

Among the recommendations reached at the meeting was the establishment of a reconciliation committee to engage stakeholders who are yet to participate in the reconciliation process and address outstanding grievances. It was also recommended that, upon the conclusion of the reconciliation process, full-scale political mobilisation and campaign activities should commence two weeks after.

The stakeholders also recommended that the planned empowerment programme, project commissioning, town hall meeting and grand finale of the One-Day House of Representatives Member Initiative by Hon. Adebayo Adepoju should all be held before the end of October 2026.

The leaders unanimously endorsed the candidacies of Gov. Seyi Makinde, Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi, Hon. Hon. Dhirkrulahi Olajide, Hon. Adebayo Adepoju, Hon. Lateef Adebare Akorede, Hon. Sola Adeleke and Hon. Peter Ojedokun, alongside the two vice-chairmanship candidates in the constituency and all 20 councillorship candidates across the 10 wards of the two local government areas.

The stakeholders declared their commitment to the reelection of the incumbent candidates and the election of other APM candidates, expressing their strong determination to work in unity to strengthen the party’s presence and electoral success across Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North.

In the course of the meeting, the APM candidate for the Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general election Hon. Dhirkrulahi Olajide (Odidiomo) made an unannounced appearance and pledged his support to the people of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North when elected. He urged the stakeholders to see themselves as one big family and bury all differences that may have existed among them, stressing that collective success as a political party was more important than individual disagreements.

The senatorial candidate noted that disagreements are a normal feature of political engagements, but emphasised that the ultimate objective should be for all stakeholders to come together, resolve their differences and chart a common course for the future of the party and the constituency.

Meanwhile, feelers from the political landscape suggest that the outcome of the reconciliation meeting has already unsettled opposition parties in the federal constituency, with the emerging unity among APM stakeholders generating concerns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
