The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Tapa Branch, Ibarapa North Local Government, today honoured the Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Ayete, Hon. Lateef Adebare (AKOREDE), with the Distinguished Religious Icon of Peace Award in recognition of his commitment to peace, unity, religious tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
The award was presented to the Chairman in his office in appreciation of his sustained efforts towards fostering harmony, understanding, and unity among people of different religious and ethnic backgrounds across Ibarapa North.
Following the presentation of the award, Hon. Lateef Adebare (AKOREDE), the Aare Musulumi of Ayete Land, donated ₦1 million to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Tapa Branch, as a further demonstration of his commitment to supporting the work of God and promoting religious harmony and peaceful coexistence.
The gesture underscores the Chairman’s belief that leadership should transcend religious and ethnic boundaries. His support for CAN reflects his commitment to working with all faith communities and ensuring that people of different backgrounds continue to live together in peace and unity.


According to CAN, Tapa Branch, the honour was bestowed on the Chairman in recognition of his contributions to promoting tolerance, understanding, peace, and unity among the diverse communities within the Local Government.
Speaking after receiving the award, Hon. Lateef Adebare expressed his appreciation to the Christian Association of Nigeria, Tapa Branch, for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to working with all religious and ethnic groups to sustain peace, unity, and development across Ibarapa North Local Government Area.
The Chairman acknowledged that public office is for a defined period and that his tenure will eventually come to an end. However, he assured the association that his commitment to supporting the work of God will not end with his tenure in office.
He pledged that while in office, after leaving office, anytime and any day his assistance is needed, he will always be ready to lend a helping hand and support the work of God to the best of his ability.
He emphasized that political office is temporary, but the responsibility to contribute to the growth of society, promote peace and unity, and support the work of God remains a lifelong commitment.
He noted that peace is a collective responsibility, stressing that irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, the people of Ibarapa North remain one family with a shared responsibility to build a peaceful and prosperous society.
