Tension reportedly erupted during a political meeting in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State after suspected thugs allegedly disrupted the gathering, attacking some party stakeholders and damaging vehicles.
According to sources present at the meeting, Ward 8 Councillor, Hon. Kazeem Oyepeju, was alleged to have led a group of suspected thugs to the council venue, where they reportedly attacked the State Auditor of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Alhaji Ayuba, Hon. Matthew Akanno, Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Ido/Ibarapa, and other party stakeholders.
The confrontation reportedly escalated, with some vehicles allegedly vandalised during the incident. Sources also alleged that gunshots were fired, causing panic among people at the meeting.
Security personnel reportedly intervened and arrested one of the suspected attackers, who was allegedly found in possession of a firearm.


The incident also reportedly left a former party Vice Chairman, Hon. Taofeek Lawal, injured. He was said to have been taken to a hospital for medical attention. Several other party members were also reportedly injured.
However, the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the identity of those responsible for the alleged shooting and the reported recovery of a firearm, have not been independently confirmed by the police as of the time of filing this report.
Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the relevant security authorities and responses from those named in the allegations are ongoing.
