The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State is set to receive thousands of new members from various opposition political parties in what is expected to be a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The mass movement, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, is expected to attract defectors from the Accord Party, All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and other political platforms across the local government.
The defection event is expected to take place at the APM Local Party Secretariat, Lalupon, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
According to party sources, the development is a reflection of the growing confidence in the APM and its leadership at the grassroots, as more political stakeholders, leaders, youths and supporters are reportedly making moves to identify with the party ahead of the 2027 political season.

The anticipated influx is expected to further strengthen the APM’s structure across the 14 wards of Lagelu Local Government and reinforce its position as a major political force in the area.
Party leaders and stakeholders are expected to receive the new members and formally welcome them into the APM family during the event.
The occasion is also expected to provide an opportunity for the party to unveil its renewed commitment to grassroots mobilisation, unity, inclusiveness and collective political development in Lagelu.
