The installation ceremony of Oloye Rahmon Akintunde Alawode as the Mogaji of Ifatayo-Alawode Compound, Ode Aje, Aremo, Ibadan, was a remarkable gathering of traditional leaders, market stakeholders, media personalities, youth organizations, old students, family members, friends, and well-wishers who came together to celebrate the historic occasion.
The colourful ceremony followed the official approval and installation of the new Mogaji by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, CFR (Arusa 1), alongside members of the Olubadan-in-Council, whose unwavering commitment to preserving the rich customs and traditions of Ibadanland continues to strengthen the city’s unique traditional institution.
Leading the dignitaries at the event was the Babaloja General of Oyo State, Alhaji (Chief) Asiwaju Yekini Abass Oladapo (YK Abass), whose attendance added prestige to the occasion. Also present was the Sanmori Adeen of Oyo State, Alhaji Fatai Azeez, JP, alongside several distinguished personalities from across Oyo State.
The event also attracted notable media personalities, including the Consultant, Ilaji 91.9 FM, Comrade Segun Ogungbayi, Head of Programmes, Ilaji 91.9 FM, Ademola Adesokan (Mr. Speaker), and Arode Concepts, whose support and goodwill further underscored the significance of the occasion.

The ceremony witnessed the attendance of prominent Ibadan Mogajis, traditional title holders, and community leaders who came to identify with the newly installed Mogaji. Oloye Alawode expressed profound appreciation to Mogaji Adungbenimo, Mogaji Pagun, Mogaji Bolanta, Mogaji Oganja, and several other Mogajis whose presence reflected the unity, strength, and enduring values of the Ibadan traditional institution.
Also in attendance were traders and loyalists of Princess Folashade Azeezat Abeo, Alhaji Ibrahim Ibromiyu, members of The Elite Broadcasters, including The Mayor, Aare Olabode Anisoloja (Agidigbo FM), Chief Gbenga Olayiwola Oyato (Lagelu FM), Aare Emmanuel Ibikunle Elereoba (Success FM), and Chief Abiola Bravolee (Agidigbo FM), alongside other respected media professionals who honoured the invitation.
The Yoruba Youth Council, led by Asoju Odo Oladimeji Ibrahim, with Princess Monsurat representing Osun State, also graced the occasion in solidarity with their National President and the newly installed Mogaji.
The Oyo Students’ Stakeholders, led by Ridwan Adegoke (Pal Solution), were equally present to celebrate the milestone and reaffirm their support.
Adding colour to the ceremony were members of the Old Students’ Association of Aperin Oniyere Commercial Grammar School and Adekile Goodwill Grammar School, particularly the Class of 2005, who turned out in large numbers to celebrate one of their own.
The newly installed Mogaji also specially recognized the presence of the Areja Family Descendants of Ibadanland, led by Mogaji-Elect, Oloye Olopade, describing their attendance as a testament to the enduring bond among Ibadan’s historic family lineages.
Speaking after the event, Oloye Rahmon Akintunde Alawode expressed profound gratitude to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, and the entire Olubadan Traditional Council for finding him worthy of the revered title of Mogaji. He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by upholding the customs, values, and traditions of Ibadanland with dignity, humility, and unwavering commitment.
He also paid glowing tribute to his father, mentor, and benefactor, the Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, for his unrelenting support, fatherly guidance, and steadfast encouragement throughout his journey. Oloye Alawode noted that Chief Sanusi’s belief in him, invaluable counsel, and continuous investment in his personal and leadership development have remained a source of inspiration, praying that Almighty God would continue to strengthen and elevate him.
The newly installed Mogaji further expressed heartfelt appreciation to all traditional title holders, Mogajis, market leaders, media professionals, youth groups, old students, family members, friends, associates, and well-wishers who travelled from far and near to honour the occasion.
He particularly appreciated the unwavering support of Comrade Segun Ogungbayi, Ademola Adesokan (Mr. Speaker), Arode Concepts, members of The Elite Broadcasters, the Yoruba Youth Council, Oyo Students’ Stakeholders, the Areja Family Descendants, and every individual and organization whose presence, goodwill, prayers, and encouragement contributed immensely to the success of the installation ceremony.
Oloye Alawode noted that the overwhelming show of love and solidarity would remain a source of inspiration as he begins his journey of service as the Mogaji of Ifatayo-Alawode Compound. He pledged to uphold the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and values of his ancestral family while working tirelessly for the unity, peace, and sustainable development of Ibadanland.
He prayed that Almighty God would richly reward everyone who contributed to the success of the installation ceremony and grant them continued peace, prosperity, good health, and greater accomplishments.
