The President of the Yoruba Youth Council of Nigeria (YYC), Mogaji Alawode Rahmon Akintunde, has commended the Federal Government, Oyo State Government, traditional rulers and security agencies for their collective efforts towards the successful rescue of the abducted students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a press statement issued and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Saturday, Mogaji Alawode described the successful rescue operation as a significant victory for collaborative security efforts and an indication that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to protecting the lives and safety of Nigerians.
He noted that the rescue demonstrated the effectiveness of cooperation among the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde, traditional rulers across Yorubaland and the nation’s security agencies.
Mogaji Alawode particularly lauded the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army and other security agencies involved in the rescue mission for their courage, professionalism, sacrifice and commitment to bringing the abducted victims home safely.

“This successful rescue operation shows what can be achieved when governments at all levels, traditional institutions, security agencies and communities work together with a common purpose. Despite the political atmosphere in the country, the safety and security of our people must remain a collective and non-partisan responsibility,” he said.
The Yoruba youth leader called for the continuation and strengthening of such joint security operations across other parts of Yorubaland and Nigeria to decisively combat kidnapping, banditry and other forms of criminality.
He also urged governments at all levels to address the root causes of insecurity by investing more in youth empowerment, quality education, skills acquisition, employment opportunities and sustainable economic programmes.
“Our youths must be empowered to become productive, responsible and proactive contributors to the future of our nation. A secure Nigeria must also be a country where young people have genuine opportunities to thrive,” Mogaji Alawode concluded.
